  • Should I continue?

I am thinking I should continue on Induction (extended) I will have completed 2 weeks on Monday. I lost 5 lbs the first week and so far nothing this week (TOM IS HERE ) So anyhow, I think I will but I just wanted to see how all of you did on extended inductions. Did cravings get worse? I just really am having a hard time with milk. Cream makes me sick, even if I mix it with water, but I am accustomed to drinking 2 large glasses of milk a day, and am having bad milk cravings. Is there any way I can add milk to my diet if I only drink a small tea cup of it and count the carbs? Is there milk that is less carbs? I wont do it if it will majorly stall me, I'm just curious!

    Re: Should I continue?

    Hi Bonnie Rose,

Well done on being 5lbs down. Don't worry about not losing in the second week -the body will take it's time occasionally, and TOM is a big part of that.

I would say for the milk to cut it out totally, it has frutose, as I understand which can interfere with the process of this WOL. Someone may be able to offer a better explanation. More importantly, any kind of craving can be dangerous, and lead to probelsm - if you can learn to sit them out early on it will help for later.

As for staying with induction, it is an individual thing. If you are really frustrated with induction and want to more closer to other foods (in the right our via rungs) then by all means do so. For people with more weight to lose staying on induction a bit longer can be worth the payoff.

Don't be afraid to do OWL, though, as it rarely creates stalls.

Once you reach the second rung of OWL you can see how milk affects you by adding 5 net carbs of it.
The whole milk I buy for my husband has 5 net carbs per 100 ml (about 3.5 fluid ounces) which is only a very small amount for a drink so might not be worth the carbs to you.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I tried Hood Calorie Countdown the last time I did Atkins. If you MUST have milk, it might be a good substitute (with only 3 carbs per cup), although I was a 2 gallon a week kind of milk drinker prior to Atkins and to date I have not been missing it nearly as much as I thought I would. Good luck!

I guess I must have missed milk on the rung lists... I thought I looked and didn't see it. I know when my mom did Atkins she had cream mixed with water (1/2 and 1/2 but H20 instead of milk w/ cream) But when I looked at the rungs I didn't see milk... I'm fine waiting for it, I just really want some

            Re: Should I continue?

i also had TOM the 2nd week of induction, i decided to do extended induction as i am not bored of the food choices and i have a lot to lose.. however i have been reading about the first rung and i think i will be doing that after losing 50-75 lbs so that i can slowly and surely get the rest off and do this for life its a personal choice.. lets see where you are and how you are feeling when you get thru 14 days/ and TOM is over... then you can decide
