  • Diet Pepsi, Evil?

I had a Diet Pepsi for a treat a few days ago, I used to be a Chronic Mtn Dew'r, Since I have stopped. When I had the pepsi it didn't hinder my weightloss or knock me out of Ketosis. Is it still a no-no? I went through my atkins diary and it didn't mention sodas (sad thing is this diet is almost 4yrs old ) If anyone knows or have experienced negative symptoms from drinking diet drinks, I drink alot more than my Daily water but it would be nice to have a treat.

I think it is the caffiene that is not allowed. I remember an old recipe that used to be : diet rootbeer mixed with cream.

But I think diet pepsi wasnt allowed because of the caffiene.

diet coke w/ splenda would be a better choice .. in some people the caffiene causes cravings.. i find it does not with me however i have cut down to 1 cup of coffee in the morning and a diet coke once a week or so... keep up the good work you can do it !

You probably answered your own question.... it didn't hinder your weight loss and didn't knock you out of ketosis. Some people can do the diet sodas and others can not. What are the ingredients? Does it have aspertame? If so, then it may not hinder your weight loss, but it may have other issues. As a former coke-a-holic, I can say that I've not cut them out (diet coke) and still reached goal. Did it slow my loss down? I can't honestly say... but we have to think of this as a way of life, not just a quick fix... If you need the diet soda, and it doesn't effect you, I would consider it a treat. It's not like you're getting an extra large order of fries with your meal.... or pancakes to go with your sausage and eggs.

That being said, diet sodas with Spenda are a better choice.
