  • Your Whoosh! Stories

For some reason whenever someone refers to a "WHooosh!" my ears perk up

I seem to lose slow and steady, which is perfectly O.K. but I would love to experience a WHoosh! I know I may never and that it's always a very indivdual thing and there are lot of different factors for every person.

But I still get so inspired by those Whoosh stories!

Would love to hear about yours

And if you have any tips on how to induce one, please tell!

Yeah, I am looking for a whoosh day of my own. I don't know what I am doing wrong either--I have lost 7 pounds and am now into extended induction because I am so MAD that I haven't lost more. I am eating the suggested proteins, fats and carbs and exercising, but the darn weight will not budge. I am also drinking so much water that I have begun to develop gills on each side of my neck.

no woosh yet, it seems to be coming off in lose 2 gain 1 lose 2 gain 1 increments.... frustrating.. but after all is said and done it adds up... keep on keeping on as they say... !

Karen, with 30 pounds left to go you have already lost about a 1/4 of the weight you need to lose and really have no need to stay on induction any longer
Unless you have a lot of weight to lose, extending your induction does not mean you will lose weight faster than if you follow the plan and start to climb the OWL ladder, so I would suggest moving on and adding your extra 5 net carbs of veg in order to start finding out your CCLL and discovering any problem foods as you climb the carb ladder towards your goal weight.

Remember, Dr Atkins wanted us to lose our last 5-10 pounds in the third phase of Atkins (premaintenance) so you have only about 20-25 pounds left to lose in OWL. It is far easier to spot problem foods and work out your CCLL if you still have decent number of pounds to lose, as when you approach your goal weight the scale drops verry sloooowly and makes it hard to tell if you are losing or not!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

OK, Elizellen, I am a bit afraid, but I trust your judgement and I will go on to owl--I just have to go back and read that section again!

There are several useful threads at the top of the OWL forum that should help you understand how to start

write2thepoint, you are doing great!! You lost 10 pounds in 3 weeks! I have never lost 10 pounds in 3 weeks. I only lost 6 pounds during the 2 weeks of induction and after that the most was 4 pounds in one month. And....I had 60 pounds to lose when I started this time.

Really? I bet you got very frustrated with those results, but I bet you will always keep the weight off because you were like the tortoise in the Atkins book--slow and steady wins the race. You are doing great yourself, Deb! and thank you for your encouragement. I tell you this forum really has the best people in the world on it. I have never felt such loving support from anyone when I tried to lose weight before.
