Today my husband wanted to eat our for lunch...And I haven't wanted to since I started the Atkins diet..Subway has a classic club salad and it says Atkins 9 net carbs and thats what I had..It consisted of Romaine, iceburg, and baby spinach, red onions, black olives, turkey, ham, shredded montery cheddar cheese, and bacon, with Atkins carb controlled ranch. It was a great salad, but it sure seemed like was way more than 9 carbs..I didn't put the cucumbers, green peppers, and diced eggs that were suppose to come with it because I felt if I did it would be way over on the carb sount..And when they put the dressing on it, man it seemed like it way half the bottle..I sure hope that carb contolled dressing by Atkins means carb free..Does anyone know anything about these claims at places like subway..And are they trust worthy when the state 9 carbs..All I know is I won't have any carbs tonight, it was way more than the salad size I fix for lunch..Any input would be appreciated.. :raving

From what I understand, the Subway salads aren't acceptable for Induction. Supposedly there is a disclaimer on the menu to that fact.
Anyhow, according to this link
The club salad has 15 total carbs, 4 net carbs.~Megs~

Also, even if you are on the Extended Induction, you still have to abide by the Induction rules, so you are limited to 3 cups of veg (2 cups salad list + 1 cup other list, or 3 cups salad list). If you are served a 5 cup salad, even if it's only 3 net carbs, you can only eat at most 3 cups of the veggies.

I have had their tuna salad a few times and I always experience some blood sugar weirdness afterwards.
I dont eat there anymore.
I am not sure, but I suspect their oil/vinegar and maybe thier tuna.
Whatever it is, I get the fatigue weirdness about 1-2 hours later.
I really like th jack in the box chicken club - I get an extra order of cubed chicked ($1.00) and take it back to work and use the Kens Steak House 1 carb ranch or bleu cheese.
As for the 3 cups of veggies - I personally see "rules" more as "guidelines".
I seriously doubt an extra cup of green veggies is going to affect you one way or the other - especially if you are exercising. But then, some people take great pride and security in rule following. To each his own - I am happy with my 28lb loss so far - I never measure my veggies, I just "wing it".

You might be able to get away with that during Induction when you keep under 20 net carbs daily, but when you move onto OWL or Maintenance, even going over your CCLL or CCML by 1 or 2 net carbs will stop your weight loss or make you gain weight faster that you can say "Oh ****!", you won't. Remember, it was lousy eating habits that got us fat in the first place. Weight loss should be when we learn habits that will allow us to maintain our goal weight forever.Originally posted by Valtro434As for the 3 cups of veggies - I personally see "rules" more as "guidelines".

I've had the salads at Subway, Wendy's and McDonalds, and I love all three. When in induction i just watched how much of it i ate..I rarely (and still don't actually) eat even half. They give you way too much. For wendy's and mcd's i only use half the dressing packs. for subway i ask them for the dressing on the side in a small cup and they are happy to do it.
It consisted of Romaine, iceburg, and baby spinach, red onions, black olives, turkey, ham, shredded montery cheddar cheese, and bacon,
Though all these things appear inductin friendly I would just watch anything with cold cuts (turkey and ham) most likely that's where any hidden carbs would be from. And the dressing. As for the rest it's all induction friendly so it should be fine. the eggs would have been fine too.
Please keep in mind as well that 'Carb controlled' doesn't by any means mean Carb Free! According to the cdn Subway site the Atkins dressing has 1net carb per 57g. The Kraft Ranch they have actually has .5 carbs for the same amount.Jen, 39, F
