  • Weight loss after inital induction

    Hi,
I have heard many people say that after the first two weeks of induction they see a gain in weight or a slowing of weight loss. Is this happening to people who do the inital two week induction and then move on to OWL? By staying on a strict induction should I still lose at the rate I am losing? I am just curious..........And, I have already read the sticky about "Weight Loss is not Linear"

    Hi.

Typically between weeks 3-6 of the diet, some folks experience a mini-stall or even a slight weight gain. Dr. Atkins explained it as water weight due to your body adjusting to this WOE and the changes you have made.

During OWL, most folks will lose 1-2 pounds a week. Try to remember that the initial weight loss during Induction is mainly water weight loss, hence the "whoosh". The first rung of OWL is the addition of 5 net carbs of vegetables. If you move onto OWL immediately after your 2 week Induction, you might want to stay on the rung for a three or four weeks to cover the post-Induction mini stall.

It's true...I lost 14lbs in my first two weeks.....from week 3 to just last week, I hadn't lost anything (week 6, 7???). Just the past 10 days, I've only lost two pounds, but at least I'm finally losing again. But, they say that a 2lb a week weight loss is best and best for long term "keeping it off"...so, in 8 weeks, I've lost 16 pounds.....which works for me!!! the key is to just keep with it...even when you're not losing...hold onto the other positive changes (not as lethargic, more control on portions, feeling overall better) and don't fret about the weight loss...it will happen again....Hang in there!

first congrats on your great start.

The human body has many thing going on inside other then just burning up fat and showing us a scale loss. It is very normal on ANY weight loss plan to have a period of hesitation after the intial rapid beginnig loss. That is when folk say oh this diet isn't working for me and quit.

that is also why Dr Atkins and just about all the vets here will tell you to use your Tapemeasure and swee the inches of body fat being burned up when the sclaes don't vaslidate the hard work you are doing on your Atkins program.

It has to do with complicated biochem reations theat go in in the human body and fluids as you morph your shape getting healthier and smaller. it will be the reoccurring pattern from here on out of losing waitng inches shrinking whooshe overnight scale loss waiting inches shrinking waiting .... and why folk talk about the whoosh fairty as you will see on overnight sclae lose when you do out of proportion to what you did the day before.

            Happy low carbing.
