How about posting a typical days menu? There maybe areas you could clean up on

Have you added exercise to your regime?

        Let's see,

        Yesterday I had:

Breakfast Quiche (4g) - (eggs, cream, cheese, broccoli, grnd beef, onion)
        2 Turkey Sausages (1g)
Ground Flaxseed cooked in a water/cream mixture (5g)

        1/2 cucumber (1g)
        1 stalk celery (1g)
chicken breast (cooked in olive oil)
        mayo

        2 ounces mozzeralla cheese (2g)

1/2 steak (marinated in oilve oil & garlic & broiled)
        1 chicken breast - fried
        mayo
Salad (with oil and vinegar) (1g)

I workout for about 30 min (fast pace walking) about 2-3 days/week

Whats worse... I put on my fat pants today - couldn't get them buttoned!

your menu looks pretty good...did you check to make sure that the turkey sausage has no fillers?

one problem some people have experienced including myself is that cheese stalls us. I don't know if that's your problem but I would recommend you experiement with cutting it out of your diet one week. Also, are you drinking your water? Have you been using fitday.com at all to punch in your info to make sure you are staying within the right ratio of fats/cals/carbs?

Are you drinking your water? First this is very important, second, I found and still do find that I bloat out quite a bit from this. I'm sure it's temporary but while I still have a way to go this can really affect how clothes fit me day-to-day.

Your increase in exercise could be an increase in muscle mass and so this gain along with the weight loss can cancel each other out so make sure you measure because this may show more. I also went five weeks without losing anything, not even inches but I figured that I was losing from parts I couldn't measure (my chest and back), and my increase in exercise cancelled out any weight loss I would have seen. I'm happy with that because I know I look better!

Are you measuring the amount of cream you consume? This is limited to three tablespoons a day (I believe).

Are you ensuring that you only have 3 cups of veg a day?You haven't specified the amount you're eating. I'm also pretty sure that half a cucumber has more than 1g of carbs. I could be wrong.

Cheese is also limited. Are you sticking to 3-4oz per day?

I avoid onion because I think it stalls me and I also taste the sweetness in it when it's been cooked so I would have thought it's quite high in natural sugars. I also avoid tomatoes for the same reason.

Check that the mayo is low in carbs.

That's all I can think of at the moment but I hope it helps

            Best wishes :hug

Okay, you've got to spread your carbs out throughout the day. It looks like you're doing a mini carb load with breakfast. By the way, while flax is okay to have during Induction, it does have limits. If you're using it as a fiber supplement, the limit is 1 tablespoon daily. If you're using it to relieve constipation, you begin with one tablespoon, then increase or decrease until you are relieved. Dr. Atkins actually preferred psyllium husk for constipation, not flax.

I'm not sure about the amount of cream you are eating either. There is a limit to that 1-3 tablepoons daily. It is also mentioned on the Special Foods List for a larger amount---but with a big disclaimer that the foods on the Special list might cause weight loss difficulties, so you might have to avoid them or limit their use.

You might want to open an account at fitday.com to see if your fat/protein/carb percentages are okay.

And finally, Betty didn't lose a single pound on Induction. She moved onto OWL and lost her weight there.

I think I'll cut out the sausage, cheese, broccoli and onion and just stick with the basics. I'm also going to try to spread more of the carbs out - 1 cup at each meal. I have been using the flax seed for fiber purposes , which hasn't been working that well, so I'll try switching to the psyillium husks. Thanks for the advice!!!

Sarah, there's no harm in eating Broccoli, just make sure you're counting it in your veg limit

Good for you sarah. Now I'm going to move this thread to the Extended Induction board because you're past the 14 days.

You could also try adding L-Carnitine to your vitamin routine.

                        Finally.... a glimmer of hope!

Day 22 - I stepped on the scale this morning (I only weigh in once a week) and 5 pounds were gone!! Not quite the loss I was hoping for by this time, but I'll take it!!
