  • Leg cramps....what to do??

I've been waking in the middle of the night with SEVERE leg cramps AKA Charlie horse in both legs. These are the kind where you fly out of bed from the severity of them. Tears come to the eyes and you have to force yourself to walk them out. Very painful.

Is there some type of supplement or something that I'm missing? Is there something I'm not getting in my diet?

    thanks!
    Joe and Dianna

I was going to suggest Calcium & magnesium supplements. For some people it's potassium. I take both since leg cramps suck and I want my bases covered.

I also have severe leg cramps on this WOE, I take a supplement called leg cramps from Walmart. It has triple calcium and maybe some potassium in it. I highly recommend. I take 2 at night and no problems.

if your supplements don't help check with your doc night time leg crampsare also symptoms of some medicslconditions like hypothyroid.

You can check your firday and see where you are deficient in your food choices in the reports section or your Doc can do a simple blood test and tell you if you need more of anything.

              Happy low carbing

Make sure you take your vitamins too! I do, and also replace my regular table salt with potassium salt. we have a brand here called No salt. it tastes just like regular sodium, and i use it in my cooking.

I use calcet (it has a triple calcium and is available at Walmart). It was the only thing that helped me at all. Mine were horrific too. I do hope it helps you.

Have you added a lot of exercise into your regular routine lately? I had wicked leg cramps for awhile (that no amount of supplementation helped), but it was actually because I wasn't stretching properly before and after my workouts. Once I took time to do that (and for a few minutes before bed when my legs felt tight), no more cramps.

That's the leg cramps stuff from Walmart I was talking about. The box is yellow with red writing and it says Calcet Leg Cramps. Works wonders!
