  • Advice on fat belly :)

    Hello everyone...

Just completed successfully the two week induction and I am 5.5 kgs down. The only thing is...I am not losing enough around the waist. I tried wearing my old shirts but they are still tight on my belly...

Any tips for losing that belly fat?

Hi there! You drinking enough water, at least 64 oz. a day? Watching your salt intake? Exercising? Those three things really helped deflate my belly bloat, but I'm still pretty much a "newbie" so maybe the "oldtimers" have some better advice

Well I definately second the water - but I also want to stress patience. It doesn't come off even. I know. Prior to Atkins I was 253lbs Which is more than 110kilograms.....my belly fat is coming off last! It's frustrating. Stay true to the plan, measure yourself and look at the big picture.

I heard it from someone that if you drink alot of diet sodas or drinks with aspartame, that can have a lot to do with it.
        Whats your exercise plan?

I am having the same problem. I can see a change in my face, neck and booty (disappearing) but I can't seem to lose much in the belly (where I think I need to lose the most.
I drink LOTS of water. I suppse it will have to start falling off once my butt totally disappears! LOL

I wish I had saved the link.. I was just reading an article on why walking, even just 20 minutes a day, every day, was the best for burning lower belly (visceral) fat. If I come across it again I will post it!

            Oh, found it.

(Feeling guilty now because I had planned to walk my 3 mile 'hilly' route this morning and I lazed in bed instead!)

I have that problem too! I remember 3 years ago I went from 160 to 138 (my first real ever diet) It wasn't until I hit the 140's before my stomach started going down, and I was losing everything I didn't want first. This was even after walking 3 miles and weight trainining 5 days a week for 2+ hours. It's very frustrating. I wish I could give you an answer but right now I'm walking, doing ab work, squats, and it's still going slowly. I have lost the little booty I had gained, and I just finally went down a cup size. But the stomach...blech!

Also, by eating MUFAS (monounsaturated fats) It is proven to reduce the belly fat.
As in, avacados, nuts, olives, chocolate. All extremely heart healthy aswell.

                    Re: Advice on fat belly

You lose weight equally off of all of your body, there is no way to target certain areas. Belly fat seems to take longer because you are losing your inner belly fat (the most dangerous kinda of belly fat) that is squishing all of your organs and that doesnt show in the mirror. Keep going and you will eventually start seeing a difference in your belly.

Yes, you can target belly fat by eating MUFAS! If you get a chance, read Flat Belly Diet by Liz Vaccariello. Fortunately, Mufas are allowed and required as part of the Atkins plan. I agree, we do equally lose weight all over. But you can target belly fat by eating MUFAS (monounsaturated fats). My tummy is the last to go and have noticed how much it has been decreasing by eating a monounsaturated fat with each meal.
Walking is also one of the best exercises for belly fat aswell. Walking is # 5 best aerobic exercises. Here's a link you may be interested regarding aerobic exercise.

That's true. I have lost inches in my waist I was knocking on 39 inches, but now I'm down to 35-36 inches. I'm hoping to lose more. I went from a size 12 to a size 10. I'm working on fitting into the 8's without a muffin top (even though it's a little muffin top).

                            Re: Advice on fat belly

There was a big study done on MUFA's and the people that ate the most olive oil, olives, avocado, fatty fish like salmon and sardines (yuck) and anchovies (double yuck), chocolate, tree nuts lost the most dangerous belly fat. I never liked avocados, but forced myself to eat them and not only did my good cholesterol skyrocket, I lost inches.

Also, I lost a lot by taking CLA and borage oil every day. Both attack belly fat.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.
