  • 2nd week, no carbs . . .I have to cheat

    Okay, I am on my second week without carbs. I have to go to a birthday party for my brother in laws birthday this friday. It is a casual gathering of about 7 people.
    He's in college and requested pizza! What do I do? I don't have a lot of weight to lose. I have already lost 5 and only want to lose 5 more to be at my goal weight. So, no one really knows I'm on a "diet" and I don't want to hear them tell me I don't need to be on one and all of that.
    Any suggestions? I don't want to be rude and not eat. Will I sabbotage all the work I've done so far? Will I immediately gain weight with one slice of pizza?
    Any advice is appreciated.

    Why not just eat the topping and leave the crust that way you will be able to avoid most of the carbs.

      You should be eating carbs on this diet---they come in the form of eggs, cheese, and the veggies you are allowed to eat.

      So, you can eat the toppings provided that you stay within the daily limits for these foods.

          Make sure that you've read the book, DANDR, because there are an array of foods you can have. I've yet to be at a pizza place that didn't have salads or chicken wings (no breading, but hot sauce is fine with ranch or blue cheese for dipping).

          If you are doing Atkins as a quick fix, again read the book. It isn't that type of "diet". If you are doing Atkins as a WOL, get used to it, but there will always be occasions where you'll want to eat ... it's up to you, not us.

          In response to will you sabotage your weight loss ... you may. Who knows ... they might make you eat cake and chips, too.

          Bottom line ... decide what you want to do and how serious you are about losing weight. And if you don't have much to lose, you should be moving on to OWL.

              why is it rude to refuse to swallow something that will make you ill and will harm you? Tell the hostess ahead of time that you are no longer eating refined carbohydrates and will need to skip the cake icecream and the disposable plate (that would be the crust) your pizza is served on but want to come and share the fellowship, love af joy of this group and occasion. Then you as a guest have done your duty to inform the hst of your food needs and what the other guests think is their business not yours and any comments they make are their rudeness not yors.

                Okay I know this is a late post cause your party was on Friday but I have to add something. I was in the same boat as you many times. Most parties you go to (even if the people know you are on Atkins) don't make sure that you have the foods you need to eat. So what I do is I bring something that everyone can enjoy. Most of the time its Hot Wings and Celery with blue cheese dipping sauce or warm ham and cheese wraps. This way I can eat and enjoy everyones company and most people don't even notice that I didn't eat the (pizza) etc..
