Diarrhea Help!

Hi,

My husband and I just finished two weeks of induction yesterday. However on Monday morning, I woke up with diarrhea. I have had diarrhea and a slight fever for 4 days. I can't figure out if I have the stomach flu or if it has something to do with this diet. My husband says he is going to the bathroom more than usual, but he doesn't feel sick. What can a person eat and drink if they are sick while on Atkins? Thanks for the help!

I'm going to post an answer then I'll move it to the Extended Forum.

If you haven't changed anything to your diet (ate a new veggie, ate a restaurant, increased the amount of fat in the diet, increased the amount of fiber, etc.), then it could be something else like a stomach virus.

As long as you can eat and you aren't vomitting, you can eat just about any food on the Food List. Soups are good and easy to make. Just take broth and cook it with legal proteins and vegetables to it.

Soft foods, like the fauxtatoes recipe or creamed vegetables, are good, too.

Egg custards are fine.

I had a stomach virus in my 4 th month of Atkins and as weird as this sounds, plain full fat cream cheese soothed my stomach right away.

Just be sure to get your vegetables in and drink water so you don't become dehydrated.

If it gets worse, contact your doctor.

Sugar alcohols will cause this as well..make sure you aren't eating any 'frankenfoods'. I did in my initial induction (didn't know any better at the time) it wasn't till if oudn this board that i even figured out what was causing it!
