Re: I´m scared to eat red meat.. help´!!
Lean red meat has less fat in it. You know, you shouldn't be afraid of fat though. I mean don't go eating tubs of fat, but fat on meat isn't going to hurt you at all!!
Keep variety in your meals so you don't get bored, and don't be afraid to try new things!!
You will keep losing weight as long as you are following the rules

Meli, Atkins is a high fat diet. You can eat chicken breast incl. skin, beef, pork, or whatever meat you like, no matter how fat it is. It's the carbs you should be worried about. Eating fatter meat will help you reach the 65-5-30 ratios (fat-carbs-protein) recommended for induction and it will keep hunger away for a longer time. The serving size is not fixed... if you're hungry eat, if not - don't.
And to answer your question... the rate of your weight loss does not depend on the type of meat you eat (as long as it's not processed meat that has sugar in it, so make sure you check the ingredients)."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Try eating the dark meat too, not just the breasts because it's allowed, but there are lots of things other than chicken and red meat that you can eat. Fish and seafood are excellent choices and even turkey which is similar to chicken but it does taste differently. And there are so many ways to eat eggs that you could have them for 2 meals a day also. You could try substituting ground turkey for hamburg for a great variety of meals. Don't be afraid to experiment. Good luck and good eating!

A good ribeye, with all of the fat still intact, is one of my favorite meals on Atkins.
It's hard to break the "rules" that we've been taught all of our lives....low fat, no red meat, only x number of eggs a week. But, oh the joy when you can be a rebel and lose weight!

Yes fat is our friend. I was just reading those first few chapters in DANDR again (Jo made me
) and Atkins reminds us there that fat is the one macronutrient that will not be turned to sugar quick by our body and therefore it is the one that is safe to eat. So enjoy your red meat. It has lost of good nutrients and good fats.

I'm reading DANDR again - and man, what he says in there about the programming of the low fat myth is just no lie, isn't it?
Melimeli, you have to read the book, girl - the first part is all about this, this fear you have and how it's just... wrong. Then he points out how you need to consume dietary fat in order to lose weight.

Beef: It's what's for dinner ... also breakfast and lunch
Never in my life have I eaten so much beef. Had leftover steak for breakfast, and roast beef on my green salad for lunch. I've just been "listening" to my body and it's telling me "BEEF!" So I comply

Try to find some grass-fed beef. It's much better for you having less saturated fat and a better omega-3 content. We go to a local farmer's market. You could go to Eatwild.com to find something in your area. Don't be afraid of red meat but be concerned about feedlot protein. They aren't all that healthy for you.Originally posted by melimeli View PostI am getting sick of chicken breasts but red meat seems too fatty to me.. will I still loose weight???
