    Hey guys,
    its been a while since i been on here and posted.. been so busy with work and studies.. but i have hit a brick wall and needed some advice and support so i have come back to the only place which offers that.. ADBB!!

    Basically i have been on atkins since feb22nd 2008 its now 237 days, 34 weeks, basically 7 months i think.. i have gone from 122kg( 268.2lbs) to 94.8kg(209lbs) which i am happy about, real happy.. but i have stopped loosing for a whole month!! and i am no where near my goal i still got another 25-30kg to loose.. and i am worried why i have halted. i am not really on extended induction anymore as i am eating a little more veg and have had atkins bars etc.. but i dont get why i havent lost weigh tin a month... i just need some advice on what to do, or the causes..
    i walk around 20 minutes a day.. i know that not a lot but i am fairly active around the house and at work ( i am a shop assistant so i am always doing stuff, never sitting)

    just to give you an idea of what i have been eating in the las tmonht:

    ex:1 : 2 sausages, 2 rashers of bacon, 3 thin slices chicken, atkins bar, chiken thigh and salad, decaff coffe and 2teaspoon splenda

    ex:2 2 eggs,half tomato, lamb pieces with peppers and 5 prawns and 10 small peanuts

    ex:3 atkins bar, 2 home made burgers with cheddar cheese and mayo and one carb ketchup, home made coleslaw( cabbage,carrot and spring onion and mayo)

    any help would be so great

    First of all ... congratulation! You've done an outstanding job.

    You have posted under Extended Induction. Are you actually doing OWL? I noticed the peanuts and the Atkins bars. Personally, I ran into problems stalling for extended periods of time when I re-added cerain foods to my plan. I'm not seeing lots of veggies in the examples you gave. More veggies can be filling and help to keep all systems "go".

    Secondly, you might want to change up your exercise and make sure that your water intake isn't slipping.

    Finally, you may want to think about moving onto OWL if you aren't doing so already. I know that there is a reluctance to do so, but sometimes taking a step back and following the plan as it was intended can trigger weight loss.

    I also got away from recording my daily food intake. During times when I have not been happy with my progress, I recommitted to writing things down, once again. Sometimes things get so routine, the reminders do us well.

      Congratuations on your success! Two suggestions: are you getting enough water? And have you altered your exercise program? You body may just be adjusting to your new weight. Keep it up!

        Major congratulations for hanging in there since Feb.! Also, for not gaining any back.
        I agree about more veggies, unless you just left them out of your write up.
        What are you doing for exercise?

          thank you all for your responses..
          I do eat the suggested amount of veggies per day, and as for water i drink 1-2 litre's a day.. In regard to exercise i am only really doing walking at the moment, i was going to the gym 3 times a week last month, but been so busy this month so only really doing 20 minutes a day of walking. i am just confused as to why i have not lost in a whole month

          irishirsih: i have a journal where i have written every single thing ihave eaten and drank aswell as exercise from day one of starting the diet..
          i love this diet, although it is slow it was constant and that is what i loved, though a whole month and not a pound shed it's making me tink what should i do? or what could i be doing?

          p.s are the atkins chocolate bars a staller? i only started really eating them this month though i did have a couple in last 2 months, but more this month. I have also been eating no carb boiled sweets, are these legit? i find all this on www.lowcarbmegastore.com let me know what you guys think.

            Sara - many members here have found that the bars ARE a staller, so that could be adding to your problems. Even the Atkins company website used to have a page where they acknowledged that people did have problems eating them and advised them to drop them if they were stalling.

            Apart from that they all contain ingredients that are not allowed on induction so if they are not stalling you and you want to use them maybe you need to leave them till you are at the OWL rung which does allow all their ingredients.

            One benefit of following OWL as written is that you find out gradually which foods do cause you problems and how many carbs you can eat and still lose weight.

              this may have been mentioned before but have you tried the increased water thing?

              i typically dring a gallon of water a day but if I notice no movement on the scale for awhile i bump it up to 1 1/2 to 2 gallons for a day or two and that seems to get the scale moving

                Ellizellen: I think the atkins bars are a staller for me, i am cutting them out.. though i still have had no change on the scales, its been a long time now well over a month so im reallly worried..


                prettyVIPchick: I try do drink as much water as i can and drink lots of decaff green tea, but still it doesnt seem to be helping. Its weird because i am aware that this is a long term way of life, thats why i have stuck to it for the past 8 months, and i was happy even when there was small weightloss of just ounces lol.. but for over a month no change is quite upsetting, especially since i was hoping to get as much weight off before my 24th birthday in janurary and having lost a whole month of potential weightloss is really frustrating me.

                i was wondering what either of you thought on the fat fast ( kekwick fast) should i try that.. as i am notin ketosis acording to my keto stix and thats been like that for over a week.. not sure why eating the same as before..

                any help would be great.. im considering either the kekwick fast, or a one day carb binge and then back on induction maybe to kickstart it again???

                  i decided to go ahead with the fat fast i started today, in the hope it will put me back into ketosis... i did a ketostick today and it was purple the one before the dark purple. i was happy to see that.. im hoping doing the fat fast for 3 days may help me get back into weightloss.. any advise, ideas?

                      The fat fast is something explained in the book for people who are stalled.

                      Sara - if you were not in ketosis, it could have been something with the bars or sweets, or the quanitity of carbs that you were eating. When you move back off the fast, I really suggest moving through the rungs so you can figure out what your body was reacting to with the way that you were eating. I feel like the bars, with the sweets, with the nuts (since all were new this month) was probably a lot of carbs that your body wasn't used to dealing with.

                      That being said, 1-2 litres a day is not *nearly* enough water. You should be drinking at least 64oz (2 litres).

                        Well i completed the first day of the fat fast and i gained lol.. i mean this is ridiculous .. i gained 0.5kg so im so lost right now as to what i am doing wrong, or what to do even..

                        has anyone had this problem, i was loosing steadily and then suddenly nothing for over a month help! help!

                          Your body may just be resting and adjusting to your new weight. They do that when a person has lost a lot of weight. Please don't let this make you crazy. The last thing you should do is give up because you will start losing again if you stay on plan. Patience is your best friend right now, not the scale. You have done so well in just a short time but Atkins is for life so you just have to take a deep breath and tell yourself that you are not going to let a small setback defeat you. Just think of where you will be on your birthday if you relax and wait out this stall. You are worth it and you deserve it so just keep the faith girl. Keep us posted on your progress because we care.

                              blueberrylady: Thank your for your post, it was very suppoprtive.. i needed to hear that i know its not worth going off atkins, i dont want to not now not in the future.. i guess i am at that impatient point where your like i want results now! lol.. but i have waited a month now and it wouldnt hurt to wait a little longer.. though i have done 2 days fat fast, you dont think that may have been a bad idea? i thought it may kick start my weightloss again?
                              also if you have any suggestions as to what i should to to push forward i would be so happy

                              Liv: Well i am doing the fat fast in the hope it will kick start the weightloss, i had macadamia nuts, cream chesse, whipped cream and chicken and mayo yesterday and today .. kinda feel sick lol.. its not pleasant... but i didnt loose i gained.. i dunno what i am doing wrong.. perhaps i really just need to wait.. but how long hehhe
