  • ? for those with about 20 lbs total to lose. Weight loss patterns.

    Hello!

Almost half way though week three!! I am staying on "induction" for a while. I also may not be getting enough veggies (maybe even fat!!) but so far...so good. I will tweak as I go.

    I have a total of 20 lbs-ish to lose.
    5'4 and was 156 lbs--now about 152 lbs.

I lost about 4 lbs. I am happy for the four so far and know it is pretty good over all for me. It took me a month to lose 4 lbs on WW's. I was aver.ing a pound a week with WW's and doubled the loss with Atkins in half the time. Wow.

I am looking 4 personal experiences if your goal weight was about 20lbs way from start. What did your weight loss look like as far as averages etc? I see a lot of ladies dropping 11 lbs in two weeks but think maybe because I am closer to my goal weight maybe I will lose slower.

I am afraid I will "stall" here since this is where I stalled on WW's. I am afraid for let down this week with weight loss weigh in. If I lose just ONE pound this week, I will be the LOWEST since the fertility treatment weight gain started...(and baby! ).....I want it......so bad.

PLEASE SHARE what your weight loss looked like!

    Thanks !!

Here is what I have lost so far in 1 month (today is exactly the one month mark for me) I started at 145 but I did my ticker later, so that's why it isn't correct
    Week 1: -6 (139)
    Week 2: -4 (135)
    Week 3: -2 (133)
Week 4: still in progress but I'm down .5 since last week. I usually weigh in on Sundays.

hi cinnamonstick and congrats on your losses so far! i started off having a LOT more than 20 pounds to lose. even then, i did not have the huge induction losses that i read about here. it has been a SSSLLLLOOOOWWWW process.

in reading around the board all this time it is my experience that the closer people get to goal or the less they have to lose, the slower it is.

you may not lose for a while. your body might need to adjust. just stick with the plan. stick with it, stick with it, stick with it and i guarantee you that it WILL come off. remember to drink lots of water and move your body.

keep in mind that you are not just losing weight, you are developing a healthy lifestyle! good luck and keep us posted!

Widget--wow--you below my theory out of the water! You lost a lot fast! GREAT JOB!! WOW....Gosh I am slow....You seemed to drop fast? What are your secrets?? Pretty pic!

Misplaced--FUNNY! I was just looking at another thread and saw your photo and thought "wow she looks great!!"...I cant believe how much weight you dropped!! Thanks for the words! I am pretty happy so far....but just want to make sure it keeps coming off! WOW have you dropped a bunch!! I see you are at 150 now --wish I looked as good as you!! Problem is I am 5'4 and you are 5'7!!! You keep it up also! Any tips to a "newbie?"....Also glad you may think the closer to your goal the slower you lose (however that does not explain the weight loss of Widget which was 10 lbs in two weeks!!--vs. my 4). I did cheat on two days.....(ate well but had wine one day (3 glasses)--and a party the other (involved wine and cheese cake!)...maybe that messed me up....

        Thanks!

I wish I could say that the pic in my siggy is at my current weight, but that was actually my wedding day and I was about 115. That was 2 years ago on the 21st of this month. I became PG with my first daughter in November of 2006, so exactly a month after I got married and I was 118 at that time. I gained almost 40 pounds during that time and just got tired of carrying around extra weight that I had never had before. The pic in my siggy keeps me motivated to get down to that range again. I appreciate your comments though!

The first 2 weeks, I did strict induction and I started exercising 5-6 times a week, so I'm sure that helped. I also take my body measurements though, because as my weight loss has slowed, it still helps to keep me motivated. I can tell that my weight loss is slowing and I still have about 15 to lose, so it's going to be much harder to lose than the first 10 or 12. I have no secrets really, I just know that this is something I want to do and need to do for me and my daughter.

Re: ? for those with about 20 lbs total to lose. Weight loss patterns.

            Hello everyone!

So, tomorrow will be 2 weeks of Induction finished for me. I have to say that I weighed myself mid way through and was down 3 lbs, and I don't expect a whole lot less tomorrow when I weigh in & will stay on Induction longer. Here's why...

I don't know if it's slow b/c I have less to lose, because I drink 2 coffees a day, b/c I chew sugar free gum about 3 times a day, or my use of splenda-not the reccommended 3 a day, more like 6. Could cheese be slowing me down? Am I eating enough fat? I have no idea. My menu doesn't vary much from other Induction menus posted by others at all. I'm probably just more lax when it comes to my use of splenda...?? I also should add that I havn't been exercising my normal days b/c of a hectic schedule these past couple of weeks.

However, I can say that even if it's coming off slow...it's still coming off! What I have done correctly is look at this as a new way of life, not a diet! And water is so important! I'm drinking more now.

So, this probably wasn't as helpful as the other posts, but what the heck, I thought I'd add my experience anyways! LOL!

Re: ? for those with about 20 lbs total to lose. Weight loss patterns.

aaawwww cinnamonstick, you are so kind! i am now at 143 so it is actually 77 pounds (but who's counting!) I AM! i am so amazed at the folks here who have lost EVEN MORE THAN THAT! have you checked out the results in the century club? what i know is that weight is weight and no one feels good being overweight be it 20 or 100 pounds.

i am so amazed at people who lose quickly. i think my body is just stubborn, like the REST of me! i don't have any real advice except to say......that if you feel that quitting because you are not losing, don't. don't be afraid to tweek things some.....ramp up your workout. increase your water. try some new veggies. check and recheck your menu. the body gets complacent you know.

my good friend jess emphasized to me all along that this is NOT a DIET....it is a LIFESTYLE. and you really need to approach it as such. if not, then when you go back to your old lifestyle....you'll have disaster.

and remember that weight loss is NOT LINEAR...at least not for many of us. don't become discouraged. just keep at it. before you know it, low carb will just be second nature.

Re: ? for those with about 20 lbs total to lose. Weight loss patterns.

Hi. I started induction a week ago. I am down 6 lbs.
My starting weigh was 153. I am 147 this morning. I struggled to take off that amount of weight over a several month period before starting Atkins.
I have 12 lbs to go, then I will rethink my goal. I may be happy at 135.

                  WOW!!!

Widget--Still a great pic! I would never post my wedding photo--does not even look like me. 20 lbs is a lot...My weight is IVF weight gain....kinda the "same thing" (baby related) and now I seem "set or stuck" at this weight.......good luck! 118 lbs!! SO SMALL!!!! You must be tiny! Even now!

Heather--I weigh in every day although I know it is not good. I do it anyway. Bad! I can shake the diet drinks either..coffee....yumm...I actually want some now....Our start weight and goal weight is the same!! (I did drop mine to 130 today because that was my wedding weight but 135 is my goal--130 is a "dream"). I just want to wear tank tops again! How tall are you? 5'4 here so 135-130 is reasonable...of course 120 would be great too but....I would need to be dead for that one!. I also feel like I am "winging it"...no idea what I am really doing. Printed the "YES" sheet for induction and try to stick to it...not counting anything...sure drinking diet drinks though (or artif. sweener in coffee etc). I need to work on that because if for NO othe reason--we know that junk is bad for us. Chemicals. It is addicting. Isnt it?

Misplaced: I laughed at your message! Who's counting! ??? Funny---it made me smile! Keep up the great work and thanks for the information and motivation. can't believe you dropped more!

Beckyboo!! 6 lbs in two weeks is good! Funny how it worked fast compared to other diets! Same here. Still early though..... was your start weight 203?? Siggy...??? WOW--you have come far !!!! You are pretty close!!!! 135 was my goal but I dropped it out of...."madness"?? Figured lets aim for the wedding weight. My drivers license still says 130 so what the heck.....I always think the cop would laugh who pulled me over..."130? yah right...."....

                    Hi Cinn!

That is too funny! I am 5'4" as well! However...the smallest I've EVER been in my adult life is 138...and what a GLORIOUS 2 months it was! I've lost 4 lbs. on official induction (157 down to 153) but will be doing an extended induction with no more than 4 weeks on it and then moving on to OWL because I hear that people begin to lose even more once they add a few carbs back into their diet, so we shall see. As far as my goal weight, I know I can get there, and anything below that will be oh so sweet!

To everyone else... Excellent job in just showing up here every day and not giving up! It's only when you give up that you are defeated! I have to keep reminding myself of that & I have made a decision that I am not giving up on me! And neither should any of you give up on yourselves! A lot of small, positive, healthy changes add up to big success in the long run! Let's keep reminding ourselves of that every day! Happy Friday!

great attitude heather! and can i add a thought about WEIGHT??

as you start losing the pounds, IF you are exercising, you should consider weight training. it is the BEST single most important thing (IMHO) you can do to shape and sculpt your body. keep in mind that as you replace fat mass with muscle mass it might not show up the same on the scale..........

in checking my BMI and "desirable weight" scales....i am in the healthy weight range but even at 150-something i was in the "overweight" range. those charts and our brains do not take into account that muscle and fat are not the same. at 150-something i was 5'7" and wearing a size 8. that is just fine by me.

i guess my point is to NOT focus so much on the number on the scale. it does not tell the entire story....just shows loss. muscle is a valuable tool for shaping those arms, legs, etc and muscles help your body burn fat! you can carry a lot more muscle and look like a hottie than you can fat. does that make sense?

and heather, you are describing what i hope everyone will learn and that is you are developing a lifestyle for yourself...small changes will make a huge difference! smart girls ALL OF YOU!

Heather--true about the scale and weight (muscle mass). If you gain muscle you will look thinner but may "weigh" the same. I think you prob. know that but just thought I would throw that out there. I am OCD about my weight NUMBER....so I want to see that move!! I am not lifting weights now but REALLY need to. The best I ever looked (8-10 years ago??) I was not only jogging but LIFTING weights. Muscle mass burns more calories when you are just "sitting" (you know that also...)...so it is good to have. As women, we often over look that part of working out. I have not lifted a weight in.....years. But have jogged or walked. That is bad.

I agree---weight scale number should not rule (just so HARD to get over it).
