  • Week 3, Extended Induction, No loss

Hi all! Hope everyone is well!

So, today is the end of my 3rd week and I haven't done anything differently from my first 2 weeks, except that my aunt sent me dark chocolate covered strawberries and I had 2 the day she sent them, but that's it. Other than that- no sugar, bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, etc. What's going on? Any ideas? I even switched from 1/2 & 1/2 to heavy cream and have been counting my splendas...I think! I did have low carb ice cream a couple of times b/c I brought my own treat to 2 family birthday parties...could that have done it?

Honestly, I thought giving up sugar alone would have caused dramatic weight loss, but still only 4 lbs... My next move is to try this for one more week (minus the strawberries & ice cream) and see what happens, then perhaps move on to OWL.

    Thanks everyone!

I'd suggest you post a menu in that forum so the more experienced Atkineers can take a look.

Eh, don't beat yourself up or be scared - just go over there, post, get the advice, and apply it. Piece of... um... bacon. Yeah. Bacon.

They're a bunch a smarty-pants around here with this whole Atkins way of life dealio. And most - if not all - of them have been where you and I are now, and needed the advice and tips too!

Our goals are similar - and I've struggled a lot too.

Just need to knock out those unecceptable foods and the low carb franken foods like your planning on doing. if you eat strict from the induction list you will do wonderfully. and also what are your stats? the less you have to loose the slower it will be that you loose weight. good luck! and keep your chin up!

                Very appropriate for Atkineers.

Re: Week 3, Extended Induction, No loss

I feel for you, I haven't lost anything for about a week and a half (I'm in my fifth week now.) I guess short stalls are common after the two week induction though.

Let's hope we get a whooshie sometime soon and get this show back on the road!

Re: Week 3, Extended Induction, No loss

Hi all. I have been on induction since 9/11. My weight loss has been snail-like in speed and I was getting so discouraged. However, I knew that I could not give up and be defeated by this lifetime of uphill weight-loss battle. This time it's for real! Well, I have lost to date ( it's Halloween and I didn't have any craving for candy!) 14 lbs, 3 inches in my waist, 2" in my thighs, and 2" in my hips. I truly believe this WOE is and will continue to work for me. My compassion goes out to you. Please do not give up! You will succeed. Just be consistent, patient and stop weighing yourself every day. I am confident we will pull each other through!

Weight comes off slow. I have 17 lbs left (out of about 23) and I've been hovering around 157 lbs for the past... 4-5 weeks, I think. It will happen if you follow the plan, but it's not a miracle diet.

To answer your question... yes, even decaff can stall some people. Tea can stall as well (it does for me) even if it's decaff. My suggestion for you would be to drink only water for 2 weeks and see if this makes a difference.

Watch out processed meats and foods high in sodium, they might make you gain water weight. Everyone reacts differently to them.

Are you exercising? Exercise is an essential part of Atkins.

I'll also post this in the thread you started some days ago and maybe we can move the discussion there. I don't want to hijack this thread.
                      All right, it's copied now.

How much water are you drinking?

If you're looking for an exercise challenge, there's a new one starting next week. Check my signature for a link to it. I'm sure you'll see differences (weight or inches) after 6 weeks of Atkins w/ exercise.

Good job on the losses! And thank you all for the encouragement! I also made it thorugh Halloween without giving in to temptation!

I found a recipe for a "mock cheesecake" that is induction friendly and it has been a big help when looking for a snack or something sweet...

                        1/2 can pumpkin
                        3 oz. cream cheese
                        1 packet splenda
1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice (this does not contain sugar)
bake until heated through and enjoy hot or cold!

Re: Week 3, Extended Induction, No loss

I actually have not been exercising. I've had quite the crazy few weeks and am physically/emotionally/mentally exhausted. My sister & I did say that we would start together every evening after work. I am usually great about working out b/c I am a runner, but this past summer my mom was diagnosed with cancer, then my boyfriend moved out, and I'm just wiped out from the stress! However, although I am eating better, I do know the great benefits of exercise. I love the way I feel when I'm in my runner's groove. And I know it will come back, but when you've had a month off...it's easy to stay lazy!
