Im gonna go to my son's church tonight and they always provide a supper for everyone. Its not buffet style and I dont get to choose what I get to eat. Like one week the menu was goulash, bread with butter, corn and canned peaches. The next week was sloopy joes with canned pears, corn and something else (cant remember). And the last few times Ive turned down the plate and they take this as an insult. Its a bunch of old ladies that have but a lot of work and $$$ into making our dinner. Ive been doing good on my diet (for the most part)...lost 21 lbs in 6 weeks. And Ive had my little cheats. Im totally depressed right now (dont even wanna talk about that). And I told my husband to watch my daughter...Im gonna go to my son's church tonight!!!!! Im sorry but Im gonna do this. I'll suffer next time I get on the scale...but Im going through some hard times right now...and a diet is the last thing on my mind. SORRY GUYS. I know you guys have all been in my shoes before. Atleast I think so. Please dont down me. And I just needed to vent for a minute. Gotta go. Yes..Im gonna eat...and I feel crappy for doing that (otherwise I wouldnt have been telling u guys).

Re: I shouldnt do this!!!!!
It's your body, your choice. I do hope that you at least make more Atkins-friendly choices on what to eat off the plate.
Maybe after this, it will be a good opportunity to evaluate why you've had the cheats you've had, and why you feel that it's not okay to eat something before you go, then only eat the things that would be part of the Atkins WoL. Since this is a lifetime kind of commitment, and it seems like these dinners are important to you, is this something that is going to sidetrack you every time, or is it possible to have a plan in place for the next time? Other than that, perhaps find some other ways to go through hard times than to get off track.
You don't need to apologize to anybody besides yourself... I do recommend not getting on the scale for a week afterwards and drinking a lot of water.

Re: I shouldnt do this!!!!!
well it is a real shame that you have that no care attitude
i know that you said that the old ladies spend alot of money into the dinners and that they worked very hard on preparing the meals, but what about all the hard work you have done staying on this diet for 6 weeks now and to have lost 21 pounds wow!!!do you know the people out there that struggle just to lose 5 pounds!.I'm very sorry to hear that you have alot of problems in your life right now,but does this mean that every time that you have a problem your going start cheating? I hope that is not the case because you yourself said that you have done pretty good on your diet,it's a shame to let all your hard work go to loss.

Re: I shouldnt do this!!!!!
you know what it is ok! We will all suffer through our demons and that doesn´t make you bad only human. You know your problems and you recognize them. You are an emotional eating.. welcome to the human race. We all eat for diferent reasons. But, you can recognize this and try something else next time a problem arises.. maybe exercise, journal or take a bath (Try a facial that always works for me) I get that warm fuzzy feeling without the food. You have to try to replace old patterns and excuses for new ones.. so instead of making yourself feel better with food use it as a good excuse to get a mani/pedi or a facial.. or **** a haircut even if you don´t need one (what feels better than someone washing your hair?? not much
) But do not beat yourself up for eating off plan, because in the end what does that do??? it won´t help it wont change anything... just try to do something different next time and see if it works.. if not then try something else the next next time.... good luck and try to feel better

Re: I shouldnt do this!!!!!
When they put carbs on your plate, and there's nothing atkins-friendly you grab your stomach and you frown and say ur feeling nauseated, and you think ur coming down with a stomach flu.... and you want to stick with water so u can keep it down. Or, you pick whatever is carb-friendly out and eat it and then say, surprisingly, 'wow i cant believe im full... but that stuff was very nice thank you'

Re: I shouldnt do this!!!!!
Would it be possible to get at least one of the old ladies on your support team? Explain that you are working hard at your new way of eating and would it be possible to prepare you an alternative so you would be able enjoy her cooking without upsetting your regime.
Even if you dont want to mention the 'A' word you could say your doctor (Dr Atkins
) has advised you to lay off the sugars and starches to improve your health. Most of the older generation will accept that those are what you should avoid to lose weight, even if they love to cook them.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: I shouldnt do this!!!!!
I think you are going to church not for the food but for the peace and clarity that being in church gives you. I think you are looking for church support in some problem that you didnt want to talk about. You know that is ok.
If they give you something not on your diet..you can always say you are allergic to tomatoes or what ever it is. Then .. after or before at another time explain your situation to one of the ladies cooking or the preacher. I am sure they would understand if you just opened up and let them know you are on a special diet and how much weight you have lost already and that you dont wish to hurt their feelings or come off your diet, but you want to come and be apart of the church family even if you cant eat what is on the menu for that night.
Dont beat yourself up over one meal. If you got the support in other areas of your life you need.. great. Get back on the WOE and continue to change your life for the better. As I said.. talk to them when food is not on the table in front of you. They will understand and if they dont maybe it is time to find another church.
I wish you luck!
