Re: how do you get over your indcution sugar cravings
It's simple, really. You stick to a strict induction and don't veer off for any reason/excuse. You get on the Atkins wagon, sit down, and hold on, because it's a bumpy ride at first, but once you got it - ya got it.
I said it's simple because it is, but that doesn't mean it's easy! Decide you want the goal more than you want the sweets and you'll be able to do it just fine.

Re: how do you get over your indcution sugar cravings
I keep lots of snacks that are high fat around and a lot of water nearby... until the cravings end, I eat a lot more, but it's all allowed food, and it only lasts a couple days, and by the end, I'm down a couple pounds, in ketosis, and no cravings.

Re: how do you get over your indcution sugar cravings
Hi Meli,
I did/do exactly what Lyssie has described and I get the same results that she has expressed. I remember one night (early in my Induction period) I must of eaten 4 boiled eggs in a row because I was in such dire straights (wanting something I shouldn't and not being able to shake the feeling)....then an hour later I ate 3 boneless chicken thighs drizzled with olive oil...I thought good grief, I'm going to be much heavier in the morning....I'm doomed!!!! I woke up the next day and I was 4 lbs. lighter. This has happened each time I've eaten higher, fattier foods when I was craving something. Within the next day or two at the latest, I'm past the craving. I haven't slipped once doing it this way.
Brook is right too....hang on and don't give in no matter what. I know we're all human and it can happen sometimes, however, I have noticed that if we can just hold on a little while longer, change what we're doing, change where were are at the time, go for a walk, eat something more high in fat, call someone, exercise (this is what I turn to if I'm having thoughts I ought not...and the exercise helps a tremedous amount) then we can get through these cravings.
You hang in there, I know you can do it!!!!!
Keep drinking LOTS of water

Re: how do you get over your indcution sugar cravings
Hi there,
I totally know how you feel. The only thing that has kept me from straying (well, two things) are as the other ladies already said, high fat things (like a cold fried chicken leg. Believe me, it works) and 2 TBS of Ready Whip on a spoon.
No kidding! I take the spoon and treat it like an ice cream cone. And I have an ice cold glass of club soda. It's worked so far, and I'm 10 days into induction.
Oh, and tonight, I had 1/4 of an Atkins bar.
Good luck!

Re: how do you get over your indcution sugar cravings
Oh, is *that* why I have half my package of bacon gone??
I do that exact thing. I hope you buy the lower sodium bacon like I do.. the scale will sometimes freak out from all the salt... no cravings still, but the scale annoys me when it does not cooperate.

Re: how do you get over your indcution sugar cravings
High fat snacks to hand for emergencies, and killing the sugar monster by starving it, worked for me.
Now, in maintenance, I have re-introduced a few Atkins legal "treats", but find I can cope with these without going off the rails (at least so far!), which I couldn't do back in the weight loss phases. It's amazing how one changes after a while of eating a certain way.
Hang in there!

Re: how do you get over your indcution sugar cravings
Hi
I always have a high fat snack (cheese or something with olive oil) or a decaf coffee with cream and 1 tsp splenda ALWAYS does it.
Good luck

Cream Cheese was my saviour in the induction and those cheddar cheese chips and olives. Those helped me through those first few days.
Hope you are having a good day MeliMeli

Chilled sweet red peppers de-seeded and stuffed with cream cheese taste oh so sweet to me!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: how do you get over your indcution sugar cravings
I started about three months ago and lost 35 lbs. But we had money problems and had to go to cheap carbs so fast it hurt. That was for a month. I grew sick of carbs and freaked out when I saw I gained 10lbs. My body was rejecting the carbs. I was eating carbs, not enjoying them, but in pain. Now I am starting induction again, but the sugar cravings are back. I normally do things because I convince myself I can. Meli is right. I am almost through induction. Again. I hope this still works.
