  • Finally Ready

    Hello,

I am new to the board. I have started Atkins many times in the past four years. However, I never made it past the first 2 weeks.

:icondance I am finally successful!!! I have been on the diet for 2 weeks and have lost 8 pounds. It feels so different this time!!! I have energy and no desire to go off. I want to see results.

I have followed the plan pretty close. Here are a few things I eat that may be affecting me: Coffe, Diet Coke, PB, Carbolyte Crispy Carmel Bars.

What do you think? Should I cut these things out to see more weight loss??? I thought I should of lost more than 8 pounds these two weeks. Do not get me wrong. I am excited that I lost those pounds and feel great. However, if I am going to do this diet, I want to maximize my results.

Any information would be great. Thanks, Tami

    Hi Tami.

Congrats on making it through the 2 weeks. You should be proud of yourself.

We discourage the use of low carb "frankenfood" during Induction (bars, shakes, etc.) because in our collective experience on ADBB, they stall or slow people. We also don't encourage eating items not on the Acceptable Foods list, like caffeinated products or products containing aspartame, because Dr. Atkins noted that these products can slow or stop weight loss in some people by affecting their blood sugar.

Nuts and seeds are "okay" if you want to extend your Induction past the
    14 day period.

I'm going to move this thread to the Extended Induction Forum, because you are past your 14 days.

Good luck to you and I hope I answered your questions.

Hi N.B.. I hope that you have the Atkins book and read it.
The things that you listed are not advised during the induction period.
There is a wealth of information on the very 1st forum listed. (Atkins Low Carb faqs.)
      Lots of luck to you.

          Thanks for the advice!!!

Here is what I am changing this week. I am really concentrating on my water. I am going to look for caffenine Diet Soda sweetened with Splenda. I am cutting out the low carb chocolate. However, I still need my one cup of coffee. Hopefully, I can battle that next!!!

          Thank You,
          Tami

            Hey Tami,
just wanted to say hi, and let you know im here if you need help. i started on jan 27 at 197 and am down to 180 ( might be lower, promised someone i would not weight mysefl until sunday i think). As far as the advice that they have given you , my only advice...take it, no frankenfoods (atkins shakes, sweets, ect.) and read the book. I borrowed one from the library and now i plan on buying one with my own money. I go back and reference it alot. Just wanted to let you know that i also had tried atkins once before and could not stick with it. But im more motivated. This board is a world of wonders. The support, commitment people have, to help us out is enourmus. I would like to share something with you. If you have time and you really want to extra help. Try Bootcamp. You will have to keep and eye our for the announcement of submitting an application, but thats my suggestion to you. If you need help. im here. pm me anytime and add me to your private messages address book if you want. ill be around seeing how you are doing.

And don't forget, exercise is part of this WOE. What are you doing for that? Congratulations on your loss so far.
