  • Totally Frustrated

I am on my third week of induction and I have only lost a couple of pounds. I know I have lost inches and I am grateful for that but come on!! I am totally discouraged but I will not give up. I just thought I would have seen more of a drop on the scale by now. I am not exercising every day because I am trying to find the time between work and school. I am getting active on my days off though and still no real results. Please, anyone, if you have any advice for me I would really appreciate it. Yes, I am reading the book.

    Re: Totally Frustrated

i'm taking the liberty of moving this to the extended induction forum. it's not so much a success story

    but it will be!

you might want to start out by posting your menus'. you might be eating some hidden carbs that others can pick up on. it happens all the time. more eyes might be able to see something you missed.

ok, chin up! Post some details on your food logs and lets all put our heads together! We have ALL been there. Those of us who have been doing this longer have been in your shoes too and we all have these "is it worth it?" moments.

          Re: Totally Frustrated

Breakfast - either an Atkins advantage protein shake or eggs/bacon (weekends).
Snack - A stick of string cheese, sometimes celery or cucumber with olive oil and vinegar. I also snack on summer sausage which has less than 1 gr of carbs per serving.
Dinner - Lean meat like Turkey or Chicken (sometimes beef) with a veggie like brussel sprouts or broccoli. I also will have a salad some nights with mostly lettuce and red cabbage.
I have pretty much cut out drinking anything but water - I will have a glass of unsweetened iced tea rarely.

Any suggestions, do you see anything here? I think I might be eating too many veggies at night. Also, I do snack on cheese a lot.

Thanks Momma and Ashan. I am actually reading the book right now trying to fine tune my regimen.

            Re: Totally Frustrated

            i would suggest you:
            1. Cut out the shakes. Many people find they stall them out. They are LOADED with sugar acohols. A tkins never intended for us to eat "fake" food. The original atkins regimine is very much a whole foods way of life. Also I am guessing the summer sausage has sugar in it (read the label) I know ham and sumemr sausage I have to be VERY careful with.

            2. Measure your veggies to be certain and track your carbs - but it's great that youa re spacing them throughout the day!

            3. You look like you are lacking fat in your diet. Eat some fattier meats, cheese (3-4oz so track that!). Add some fatty salad dressing for dipping veggies or meat, butter or olive oil your veggies.

            4. Keep up the great work on your water. We need the hydration - it also helps the skin shrink back up as we loose weight. Hydrated skin is healthy skin!

            5. be patient. Did you measure? At the begining i could see it, but I was loosing inches. It also happened for me right about the 25lb mark.

              Re: Totally Frustrated

I feel ya! I've seen the inches come off but my scale is not budging and its making me so frustrated because this is my second time doing atkins and the first time the pounds fell off!! Hang in there though. I was told that muscle weighs more than fat and that could be why you haven't seen the scale move. Just keep eating right and exercising and you should be fine.

I feel like I need to second *exactly* what Momma2threegirls has said.

If the reason you use the shakes for breakfast during the week and the eggs/bacon on the weekends, I feel like you should know that it takes about 1.5 minutes for both of these to cook in the microwave. You can also cook them in the oven to be like muffins, in advance, then heat for about 30 seconds. There are also recipes to make tuna or salmon muffins the same way and they're really yummy.

I feel like you also say nothing about your stats. If you're very close to a goal weight, you're not going to lose like, 20lbs in one week and magically be at goal. It just doesn't work like that.

                  Re: Totally Frustrated

All right, so in a previous post you said you lost 7 lbs in less (!) than 2 weeks. Then you cheated. Then (hopefully) you went back on track.

Good. Let's approximate and say you lost 7 lbs in the first two weeks of induction. Even if you had 140 to lose, 7 lbs means 5% of those, so you are in the normal induction range (5-10%).

If you gained some weight back after the cheat, it won't come off overnight.

I think you're doing just fine (though, as others said, be careful with the shakes). Make sure you don't cheat again and you'll start seeing results. It's not magic, you have to work for it... but if you follow the plan to a t, you will get to your goal weight.

Thanks Georgiana, I am reading the book and trying my hardest to stay on track. No more cheating for me.

                      Re: Totally Frustrated

I just want to chime in on the measuring - don't discount the inches you've lost - that's an achievement!

Some people will weigh 165, some weigh 150, some weigh 135 - and they'll all wear the same size pants (I'm guessing a 14 ).

Inches lost are as real - if not more real - than what the scale will say to you. Celebrate it!
