  • I want to kick myself!! Whiny complaint ahead!

    :no I cheated myself :no

I ate pizza and fries and chicken fingers (oh my!). The next morning BAM! 5 pounds on these thighs o' mine. I never expected that much of a setback!!! (Drank lots of water yesterday and today) Also, TOM is supposed to visit today.

I was at 206 and thought I was just a few weeks away from onederland but I blew that sky high. It didn't help that my hubby told me I was doing so well I deserved a treat.

I'm really starting to have second thoughts about this WOE, not because I want to quit but because veggies are so important and they don't agree with me. I have tried several veggies and just cannot get into liking them.

I've tried recipes on here (creamed spinach, mock-cauli fried rice, cream cheese/cocoa/sweetner, mock danish...etc) and hated them all. I'm getting bored with old faithful caesar salad twice a day.

Maybe it's because my TOM is almost here and I'm whiny, emotional, sooky, whiny, depressed, bloated and did I mention whiny?

I tried to get inspired by reading Dr. A's book again today and it helped a bit, but I needed to come here and hear what you all have to say.

It might be TOM talking right now and it might be guilt. But re-read Chapters 11-14 of DANDR 2002.

People are hesistant to move onto OWL because they're afraid they won't lose weight :sarcasm So they wallow in Induction, get bored with the foods and find themselves wrapped around a plate of lasagne or a platter of chocolate chip cookies...

So please re-read those Chapters. Ask yourself the 4 Questions in Chapter 13. Read through the OWl forum (Loonatika can eat over 100 carbs daily and the fat is flying off her!)

I have gone over (agonized?) these questions and here's the beef:

        #1. Bored with induction? Yes.
#2. How much weight to lose? 80 pounds total
#3. How metabolically resistent? Appears I have a high metabolic resistance since I lost very little in the initial 2 weeks.
#4. Willing to slow down pace of weight loss for more food choices? Well, the first rung is veggies and I hate them so I don't see the point of going there. Other than that, not really willing yet.

I did re-read those chapters today for sure.

Read through the OWL forum. You can skip rungs if you want to. You can even do the modified OWL, where you stay at Induction level carbs, but move up the carb ladder.

But the real question for you to answer is this:

Will having a more varied menu help me keep on track and get me to goal?

If the answer is "yes", then move your fanny over to the OWL board. It would be a shame if you become one of those folks who keep falling off the Induction wagon adn delaying your weight loss even more, because you are bored with your food choices.

You do raise a good point. If I get bored, I'll probably continue to fall off, slowing my weight loss even more.

              Hey there,

not2late is right. I would suggest you skip a rung and do OWL. The minute boredom checks in with food, the more you want to cheat. And since this is my second time round i tried sticking to induction for one whole year, 7 months in i started to cheat luckily i didnt gain weight but i didnt lose either its cause i used to be in the gym for 3 hours 6 times a week.

My choice now is to move onto OWL in a month because it gives more variety and options. Go for it and hang on.!!! :hug :hug :hug

No way you gained 5 pounds from eating pizza and chicken fingers one day. Must have been some other factors at work there.

Don't worry, you will be ok. TOM for me usually moves the scale up 5 lbs. We retain alot of water at that time. As for the cheat, well I've been there. I just keep coming back here for support and help. I also do go back and read the book again and again for info. and support. Good luck.

                      Thanks all.

I'm back to 206 again and still no TOM (few days late). I wonder if I gained that much due to salt intake? I'm sure there was tons of salt in the pizza sauce and probably the fries with gravy as well.

Whew, that was very stressful. Time for me to move on from induction. I am making an honest effort to get in my veggies.

                        Wish I weighed 206

Ha, ha, sorry, but the whole time i was reading these post, I was wishing I weighed 206 pounds. You gotta understand. I started at 260, I have a long, long way to go, so I can't help envying you a little.

Hang in there, you probably are retaining water from your binge, it will come off. Have fun in wonderland!!!
