  • Hot chocolate ? Hot cocoa? Help!!

    Hello eveyone..

I just ordered some Valrhona cocoa powder from a uk lowcarb store.. It doesnt say anything about cabrs on it, it has not nutritinal information column on the box or inside packet. I have tried researching on the net but nothing came up.

I did check the ingredients and it says 100% cocoa.. thats it.. my question is, how many carbs does 100% cocoa have? Im lost as where to look. I mix it with water because i dont like milk.. so i guess i wold be saving on carbs in that sense..

any help would be great.. dont want to be drinking somehting which may be bad

    many thanks

The 100% unsweetened cocoa powder here in the USA shows 3 carbs with 1 fiber for a total net carb of 2 per serving. A serving is 1 tbsp.

I would think pure unsweetened cocoa would be very bitter if just mixed with water.

edited to add.. I found a site that has the nutrition values for this product. While yours has only 12 calories to our 20 per serving your carbs are the same as ours. 2 net carbs per serving.

I've just looked at a box of Valrhona 100% cocoa powder which lists a serving of 40 grams to have
      180 calories
      8g fat (5g sat fat)
18g carbs inc 12 fiber (6 net carbs)
      10g protein

I havent opened it yet so have no idea how many tablespoons 40 grams is.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

          Hello Michelle and Elizellen

Thank you both so much for taking the time to help me find out what the carbs were for the cocoa... I really appreciate it..

My only other question is, is it safe to drink this even if it only has 2 carbs per serving? is it know to be a staller or anything ?

          Many thanks

I don't think I have seen anyone posting that they have found it a staller in itself - it is only powdered nuts basically, so is a valid rung 3 addition in OWL in quantity - though some people treat it as a spice and allow themselves a small quantity on induction.

You will just have to try it and see how your body reacts to adding it.

I am working on a recipie. I tried it with some heavy cream, water, splenda, and a bit of melted cream cheese but it was not quite right. Have not elt the need to try it again, but sometime I am going to make a hot (spicey) Mexican Cocoa.
