  • Awful quiet in here...

    :wave Hi, all!

I am new to this section of the boards but seems like no one has been in here in a few days. Where is everybody? Anyways....I decided to stick with this for a little while longer because I am not bored yet, the food is easy for me to prepare with my schedule and a no-brainer. Plus, this is the longest I have ever stayed on ANY plan ever and I don't think I can do OWL yet without screwing it up. I am re-reading chapters 12-14 and maybe when I am sure I can do it and when I feel less nervous about switching, I will do it. Anyone else here a little nervous about doing OWL?

Welcome to the Extended Induction forum. Some of my reluctance in going to OWL is that I have little desire in expanding my diet. If the monotony is not endangering your sticking straight on the AFL list, OWL is the best plan. However, you are certainly allowed to spend many months on Induction level eating. There are certainly good examples of this board that have done it 6 months or more. Glad to have you here and very glad to hear about new found control over what you are eating.

I too am slightly hesitant of moving onto owl because i think ill just let myself go. I think the strictness of Induction is whats keeping me proper, when i start to have tooooo many options ill go haywire. But im gonna move on once im ready im aiming for mid April.

:wave just keep taking the test in chapter 13 and you will know when you are ready to move. you have to move to pre when you have 5-10 pounds left to lose.

Alot of us didn't climb all the rungs nor add back carbs all the way to our CCLL when we went to OWL and idd a modified OWL keeping the carbs at induction level or just a little above but tried out the rungs. you can read about how to do it that way with the strickness of induction but the foods experimenting of OWL in the PWL forum stickies.

            Happy low carbing.

I am staying here as well. Today is day 15. I am not loosing as fast as I expected but then again, I still have a few peanuts a day too and not enough water. I still feel like I am learning. I know once I have a low carb tortilla, the cookies and icecream are next. I am not close to being bored with the food either. (Well, maybe breakfast). I dont have the huge energy but I no longer sit on the couch 1/2 the day either. I love that! I just need a bit longer to make this a habit. I have a long way to go and a short time to get there....summer is near! Good luck.

Really, OWL is fairly strict if you follow the rules. I've been doing OWL for the last 6-8 weeks and it is SLOW going. I spend one week adding in a new food every other day and then another week adding in the same food every day and monitor my weight loss/inches loss as I go. If I do okay on that food, then I'll add in another new food. I'm not talking new rungs here either...I mean, food, like each kind of nut I am spending that amount of time with and so on. So it's not like you move on to OWL and all of a sudden you have all these choices. It's such a slow and deliberate process that by the time you DO have a lot of new choices, you have spent so much time getting there that you know exactly what and how much you can eat and you spent the time learning it, so that you actually won't go haywire. You have control because of the process you go through.

My goal is to get through the nut rung and maybe this summer the berry rung and stop there until I get closer to goal. Then I will move up through the higher rungs as I go through premaintenance...unfortunately, I'm not the fastest loser so that will be a while!

I dunno, maybe I am thick in the head but I am reading and it still seems complicated to me. Now, on the list to add foods, do you add one thing from the list at a time or can u just randomly add things from the list or what?
