  • Grrrr...why won't the numbers change???

    I havn't lost any weight for about a week, and I really am irritated. I am working out like crazy, I am dead by nighttime. I have eaten SOSO perfect, believe me. The only thing I can come up with is that I started TOM about 4 days ago. My clothes do seem looser, but come on...when are those damn pounds going to drop off???? I am so tired of seeing the same numbers, give or take a pound. I have been on extended induction for more then four weeks now. What is going on?

    Well chicky,

    I felt the same way at first, but then I noticed that I would lose for about 1 1/2 weeks straight at a rate of 2-3 lbs a day, then it would stop for 1 1/2 to 2weeks-- i chalked it up to my body catching up in inches from the lbs that i'd lost. Sure it got frustrating not seeing the scale move, but I had to also consider that as long as I was losing inches, I was also losing weight-- the numbers truly arent everything... they'll drive ya crazy if ya let em Stay focused and true to this WOE, and it will definitely reward you in the end.

    If this helps---- I lost ZERO weight for the first entire month that I changed my eating and started working out-- no cheats, no missed workouts, and I worked out for at leat 30- an hour a day every single day! When I finally saw the scale move-- I lost 22lbs in 1 week Got scared, went to the doctor, and was told that my metabolism was so out of wack, It needed time to catch up with my body-- go figure! Needless to say I went on to lose a total of 38 lbs that month, and no less than 20lbs a every month after for 6 months straight.

    Be patient girlfriend, those losses will come

    ================================================== ====================
    Edited to add:

    You can pretty much forget about an accurate or consistent weight loss during TOM! Only a lucky few even continue to lose during that time.. others spend a good amount of time away from the scale trying to figure out how they can flush some of the water weight away, before it's all over! If it's that time...you definitely don't wanna let that bring ya down!

      My wife gained like 4lbs at her last TOM and then was down 3 days later. Don't obsess about it... think long term. And GET OUT OF INDUCTION. Your body should respond well to the added veggies and other things that come with moving up. Whatever you do, don't give up. Good luck and Happy New Year!

        Who cares what the scale says?! Seriously. Do your pants have a weight requirement in them or do they have a waist size requirement in them?

        Scales lie. They're the least accurate way to judge your progress - or lack thereof. Read this, live this, love this. Why The Scale Lies

          I hit a goal weight of 260 on the 19th of last month. The next day, I was four freaking pounds heavier. It took me almost a week and a half to get back to that goal, now I'm all the way down to 254 (as of yesterday morning).

          The best thing I did to start the pounds dropping again was to only eat until I wasn't hungry (instead of eating until I was full), I started taking psyllium husks, and I started running. You'll be surprised how much weight you'll sweat off if you just go run about a mile and a half.

            Thanks everyone for your support, and I am doing the "lose with the Losers" challenge for the next three monthes, so I am worried I won't hit my goals. But everything you guys said made sense. I am going to not stress about it, and blame my TOM, and know I will make it through this!!! Plus, yes my tightest jeans are coming down without unzipping easily! thanks a buncha all!

              Oh yeah. Two days before Christmas, my wife and I went to Eddie Bauer. I had to just try a pair of 38 waist jeans to see if i could fit into them.

              I got them to button.They weren't comfortable, but I was able to button them around my waist. i was so pumped. When I hit my next goal weight, I think I'm going to buy a pair.
