  • I am constantly tired...

Anyone else feel this way? I get to the point at night where I am just bone dead tired and can't go on. I don't feel particularly good either and I am very short tempered.

Ugh! I am also stuck at 18 pounds--I have been here for 3 weeks. I finally tonight got so frustrated and felt so bad, that I dug into the girl scout cookies. This is the onlytime I have cheated since January. :help

Dr atkins says if you are tired you need to eat more period so skip the cookies and get a nice atkins acceptable foods food you can enjoy and eat. when you are tired that is one of the symptoms you haven't been getting enough cals and your body responds by shutting down nonlife needed systems and conserves your remaining fuel stores so you will not be losing weight very easy.

Up your fats and proteins and see.

this assumes you arer tasking the vits and supplements you need based on your poor food choices off the lists as it is very hard to meet the daily required needs from theose food choices. if you aren't then start there first.

    ahppy low carbing.

      It's not lack of food...

I eat plenty and am always right at or a little over 20 carbs. I take a daily vitamin and walk 2 to 3 miles every day. Maybe I need to go on to OWL. I am losing so slowly that I hate to do that and lose even slower. Maybe Atkins isn't for me and I need to go back to WW.

Another this is that I am always always freezing. I am on thyroid medication, so I don't think it is that...

It might not just be the carbs, looks like you're great with that, but do you keep track of your calories? It's true we don't count calories during induction as we have a built in calorie control system with ketosis. However, maybe you're just not eating enough. I know I'm quite saited around 800 calories, which is ok once in a while, but if you were eating that all the time, your body will react and start to go into 'starvation mode' as 2big mentioned. Maybe just keep really good track for a couple of days and check out if you're eating 65% fat, 30% protein, and5% carbs. Keep drinking your water and exercise! Maybe your exercise regime needs to be tweaked a bit.

If you're doing all that, maybe you're coming down with a bug. I don't know anything about thyroid difficulties. Hope you feel better soon.

wish you had mentioned your thyroid meds in that first post Have you had your levels checked since you started? many of the acceptable veggies are goitrogens and will interfer with your T4 to T3 and then thyriod is one of the first things to be scaled back when we lose weight as our bodies want to slow down and concerve fuel.

See if your level is too low and you need a bit more med. WHne you move to OWL you may need even more as more OWL foods can be gioitrogens too.

this doesn't mean you can't eat them it means you need ot keep the level constant and get your meds agjusted to your new WOE happy low carbing

Oh we have a thyroid forum too if you need any help

Re-take the Blood Sugar Symptom Test in Chapter 13. Then look over your food diary. It could be that something you added or something you aren't measuring as diligently as you should is making feel tired.

OR it could be that you are really physically exhausted and need a to slow down alittle, relax and get a few nights worth of quality sleep.

It's gotta be a blood sugar thing...

I feel good since eating the cookies--although I am barely in ketosis now :anger . I am going to reread that part in the book. Thanks for the advice! This is a great place! I think I will go back and get my thyroid checked again, too.

if you are feeling good since you ate those cookies then you should look at upping your carbs and moving to OWL too.

I am so tired as well. I posted something just like it in the newbie forum. The burst of energy is just not there but I know I am in ketosis. I still drop in the afternoon and need a nap. I think I am doing things right (could use more water) but now I am just thinking maybe it is just the way my stressful life is making me. Are you under alot of stress? You are not alone. On the good side, I am feeling and looking a bit better and hope you are too. Summer is coming, lets not give up!! Maybe there is an Energy "swoosh fairy"! Good luck!

                      Ok, this is weird...

I have been stuck at the same weight for 3 weeks. After eating the cookies, this morning I am down a pound and a half. Sunday is my official weigh-in day, though. I just knew I would gain 5 pounds overnight. Also, last night I was barely in ketosis, but this morning it was dark purple. I am going to do induction through the weekend and then start going up the rungs. I have lost my book, though.

I've been overly tired too. But I've neglected my vitamins. I'm promising myself to start remembering them on a regular basis starting tomorrow.

I too had a long time stall, but I just kept on doing WOE and it finally started back again.

I weighed this morning and have finally hit 270. I was happy, tired but happy.
