Hello. I have a question for those of you that have lost weight and kept it off. I was wondering if you stayed on induction the entire time and then worked your way up the rungs or what? Thanks!

Re: Question...
I always go back to introduction from time to time, especially when I stray from my diet a bit. It helps me to focus and readjust my eating patterns.sigpicCeeMarie 267/236/180 (-31 lbs!)

Re: Question...
I stayed on induction for about 6 weeks and then moved up the carb ladder and OWL just like Dr. Atkins said a good girl should.
The plan was written the way it is to maximize your success- both in the short term and the long term. Follow the plan.

General rule of thumb for success: If it requires a degree in chemical engineering to pronounce it, you probably shouldn't eat it.

Re: Question...
while adding foods thru the rungs, I have determined that due to my diabetes, I cannot add many foods and keep losing, so yes, I am moving up, but not really able to add much. The process is great for learning what works for your body."I'm big boned" ...Um, nobody has bones that big....

Re: Question...
the maximum to stay on Induction is set around 6 months in the book. Yet, there are people around who have stick to it quite longer than that. It all comes down to you really.
Just keep in mind that, induction is not The Atkins approach. The whole of the phases consist Atkins. How many weeks are you now in Induction? if you feel restricted by it, you can move up the ladder..

Re: Question...
Yeah, I got what you mean.. I was to suffer from knee pain some years ago.. How many lbs did your physician suggested you should lose before the operation or physiotherapy? Do you have trouble walking?(not going up or down flights of steps of course) let me know on the knee, maybe I can share some bits of advice..
but keep on going..and do not rush.. 2 weeks and 30 lbs lost is really good my friend..

Re: Question...
He didn't really specify a certain amount... but closer to 100 so that my other knee can handle the compensation afterwards (or at least that's how I understood it). I don't really have trouble walking, but during the colder months, I experience moderate stiffness. Thankfully I live in the south and we don't experience a very harsh winter. And whenever I bend it, there is a very notable crunching sound. A pretty thought, I know.

Re: Question...
According to the chart in DANDR you exhibit very low metabolic resistance to weightloss so really there is no need for you to stay on induction longer than the first 14 days.Originally posted by ms_blueliner View PostScribbler - I am about 2 weeks into induction. I am sort of in a push to get the weight off to have my knee worked on so I am considering staying on induction until I get the bulk of the weight off and then start to work my way up the levels...
OWL means 'ongoing weight loss' and many members find their losses continue at the same pace as their first 2 weeks of induction once they increase their carbs and add new foods to their menus.
And having more food choices does make Atkins much easier to follow.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: Question...
I can't even remember how long I stayed on induction, it was so long! But I have introduced more dairy (yogurt, cottage cheese) and nuts (almonds mostly, best for your heart). I have also added soy milk.
Even though I have moved up on the rungs as far as "what" I eat, I try to keep my carbs below 30 on a regular basis. Even there I was stalled for the last 3 weeks. This week I have gone down to below 15 carbs a day and have already lost 6 more pounds! I will do that for the rest of the week then slowy add more carbs. But I am doing it while including the nuts. That is my late night snack and I can't seem to give them up.
I think we all find our own place on this diet. I try to follow the guidelines but I am not a perfect by the book Atkineer. But I do love what this diet has done for me! I feel great, look better, and have a much healthier heart, blood pressure and attitude!~~~Donna~~~
