one cream cheese brick is 8 oz correct? is that the equivilant to 1 cup? Anyone know? Thank you in advance

Yes it is. 8oz is the standard size. the package usually says 250 grams i think, which is equal to 1 cup. 2 tablespoons is equal to 1 ounce of cream cheese....someone mentioned that a while back on the board I remember. at least I think it's 2 tablespoons to the ounce....

No cream cheese is a net weight measure not a volum measure. one weight ounce is not nessasarily a volume ounce also.

cups do not convert to grams as grams are a weight measure and cups are a volume measure they convert to ml.

And 2T is 1 liquid ounce, it is not the measure of your cream cheese package.

I measured this out cos it's the only thing I can eat at breakfast and I had got the measurement wrong.
In fact the tub is 250 grams .. (around 8 oz) and in theory that would be 16 tablespoons (if it was counted as fl oz.)
But no way is there 16 in there .. I counted them out and there are 8 (/max 10).
I had infact been counting my 1 spoon in the morning as 0.5 fl oz .. where now I count it as 1 fl.oz.

Hope this is right and helps

Most cream cheese recipes will give the amount in ounces rather than in cup measurements.

If you have a recipe that gives a "cup" measurement, you'll need to measure it out. So get out your standard cooking measuring cups and put the cream cheese in it. You'll need to use the "dry" measuring cups because it'll be easier to measure with.

If you don't know how to measure ingredients, this link tells you how.

According to the USDA database 1 Tablespoon of cream cheese is 14.5 grams, making 1 cup = 232 grams
