  • Proof!!

    So last night in my "I am so happy right now" post I shared that I was going to do something pretty radical in my mind and for the next month just refer to measurements as benchmarks of success, not scale numbers. I am happy to report this morning, my 'weigh in day' I weighed in the same as I did after a 10 lb induction loss - 184. Now normally this would be discouraging and why didn't I lose, etc. etc. BUT then I measured myself - I am smaller everywhere!! Another half inch from all over and 2 inches from my arms!! I am so excited about this It's official, that was it for using the scale for a little while (about a month) - now Fridays are my 'Measurement Day' instead of my 'Weigh In Day' - lol. I am now off to the gym to get cardio and BUILD MUSCLE without worrying if it's going to up my scale number......have a great day guys!

    Starting Waist 35.5 (Current 32.5 - 3 inches lost total!)
    Starting Hips 42.5 (Current 39.5- 3 inches lost total!)
    Starting Thighs 26.5 (Current 25.5 - 1 inch lost total!)
    Starting Knees 18.75 (Current 17.75 - 1.25 inch lost total!)
    Starting Calves 16.75 (Current 16.5 - .25 inches lost total!)
    Starting Upper Arm 16.75 (Current 13 - 3.75 inches lost total!!!!)

    Cool news Kathleen! It's so true that those scales can be the very devil. Kudos to you for making the change to tape measuring!

      That's awesome, Kathleen. Great progress and a terrific attitude! Congratulations on seeing the light... who gives a crap about the hunk of junk; the power is in the almighty tape measure! Keep at it!

        LOL - You guys are the best. "Hunk of Junk" - I love that. You know what's funny? Making that decision gives me more motivation but in a positive way. I keep thinking about my friend who I mentioned in another post who is a gymnast - 5'2" and 150 lbs and wears a size 4 - she is all muscle - I would love to be as in shape as her - I'll get there (well maybe not a gymnast but more muscular - ha ha) I would like to say again too how ready I felt to give up yesterday just because of the scale, my mood etc. and I just held on tight and got into bed - I find that sometimes that's what I have to do - even if my mind is telling me one thing just ignore it and get under the covers and thank god I held on because of how I feel today.

          Kathleen, so good to see you chipper, positive and motivated today!!!

          Because of you, I am finally putting my scale in the closet and will bring it out on Friday mornings only. Still can't conceive of not weighing weekly yet.

          My jeans are getting loose... it's an incredible feeling. A month ago I had to rig up an elastic extender for the waist!
