  • Ate way too much -- still lost weight

    Yesterday was another one of those days that I was really hungry all day.

    I think part of the reason is that it takes meat to satisfy me. Cheese, for me, is better left as a flavor enhancer. But my lunch was a salad with one oz. of mozzarella and one ounce of cheddar in it.

    So I stayed hungry all afternoon, and kept snacking. All legal foods, but too much of it.

    Then I had a blowout dinner with steak, spaghetti squash alfredo, and another salad. I felt so wonderfully satiated.

    But then, after dinner, I REALLY wanted something sweet. Eventually I had another decaffeinated coffee with cream and liquid Splenda and that helped. But I STILL craved sweets.

    Finally, really miserable, I mixed up two ounces of cream cheese with maple extract and more liquid Splenda (way over my cheese and Splenda limit for the day), and finally I was happy.

    Altogether, I had over 2500 calories and over 25 carbs.

    This morning I figured I would weigh and face the music, fully expecting to have gained a pound or more.

    Instead, I had lost another pound.

    I am stunned. I do not deserve this gift, but will try to learn from it.

    I must remember to eat a more substantial lunch each day. If I eat a truly satisfying lunch, I usually feel satisfied the rest of the day.

    Take that gift and run, run, run!!! Lesson learned about lunch. You got the point so, GREAT FOR YOU!!! I'm toying with the idea of eating something brand new today. What I'm doing isn't making the scale go down and I haven't baked much AT ALL since I've restarted. Perhaps something new will shock my body!!

      I have cravings too sometimes. My husband has found a recipe for low carb cheese cake, which is really good - 2 net carbs per slice. Or, if I don't have that, I found that if I eat a dill pickle it will take the sweet craving away. Not sure why, but it works for me.

        I think what really set off my sweet cravings yesterday evening was that I was browsing Linda's Low Carb recipes and looking at the desserts, then I watched Kent's video on how to make a no-bake cheesecake.

        Once that seed was planted, it took root in my mind. Only thing is, I didn't have the carbs left to indulge!

        Guess I'll have to watch what I read, too!

          Sunny, that happened to me quite a few times and even these days I am super-surprised when it happens. I mean, I was gaining weight on low-fat diets eating 1300 calories a day! So being able to eat 2000+ without gaining is amazing! Of course, it shouldn't be made a rule, but it's great to know that occasional slip ups won't hurt as long as you stick to Atkins-friendly foods.

              Desertthorn, I couldn't find liquid Splenda per se.

              I found liquid sucralose under the name EZ-Sweet online at Netrition.

              I just call it liquid Splenda because it's less confusing.

                Keeping carbs low some people can eat tons of calories and not put on any weight. I saw some that were claiming to eat over 3000 calories as an experiment.

                        This is a good example of giving in to cravings in an atkins friendly way! Did you reach for a sandwich? Nope. Did you grab a muffin? Nope. You found something that suited your WOE and treated yourself within (well almost!) the boundaries of youe chosen WOE.... Well done you!
