  • Not eating enough fat

I've been keeping a journal of my carbs, and I thought I was doing a pretty good job on Atkins.

But yesterday I plugged my menu into Fitday for the first time and discovered I am eating too much protein and not enough fat.

Fitday really is a great tool. Thanks to the posters who keep encouraging us to use it.

Well done for analysing your food choices and making changes for the better
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

That would also explain why I felt hungry. When I eat enough fat, I don't have that nagging urge to snack!

I will get this WOE down pat eventually!

i have the same problem. i just keep eating protein and then i stall. when i eat fattier foods, the pounds seem to melt off faster. I have the book now and that was the greatest tool i could have ever used.

            Re: Not eating enough fat

I found while on induction the easiest way for me to make sure I'm getting enough of everything is to put all my food for the day into FitDay in the morning..that way I can make any changes I need to before I eat anything. This has been very helpful if I need to I can add or subtract and when the day is done I feel good about what I've eaten. This also helps me to not snack or eat things that I shouldn't

Can someone tell me what the break down is again. Maybe I too am just not getting enough fat into my diet. I have been so blah this week ...I was thinking about going up to owl but then had these weird cravings and everything was just blah with my food.

                Re: Not eating enough fat

Fitday is so time consuming that I don't do it everyday. I just spot check my menus a couple of times a week.

Last night I checked it out and in spite of eating what I think is enormous, excessive amounts of fats, I'm still not there yet. But at least I have the carbs right for extended induction!

                57% fat, 38% protein, carbs 5%

So this morning I had sausage with a breakfast crepe with cream cheese that someone posted the other day. It was wonderful!

Also, since I have cut out the caffeine, I don't crave coffee and often forget it. So that is cutting out the cream servings that I used to have in it.

Guess I'll go make a cup of coffee now.

                    Re: Not eating enough fat

Shaunawa, I missed your earlier question. Sorry.

                    These are our target percentages:

During Atkins Induction, we receive 65% of our total daily calories from fat, 30% from protein and 5% from carbs.

Butter and oil have no carbs. Mayonnaise is another good source. Cream and cream cheese are very low in carbs. And salad dressings are almost all oil.
