  • Counting Carbs in Fiber Supplements

Ok walk me through this one more time. I know you experts have done this before.

If I have flax meal, I don't have to add the carbs from it. I do add any from any additives like splenda for instance. Correct?

Metamucil. Sugar Free. Has Aspartame in it. Bad?
How about the carbs. Bottle states 5 Carbs. 3 digestible fiber, 2 soluble fiber. Do I count any here?

    Thanks...

You count all the carbs that you eat or drink.

Depending on the carb counting source you use, flax carb counts vary. I know Bob's Redmill's packaging leads one to believe that 2 tablespoons has 0 net carbs, but it doesn't because they rounded up the total carb count.

The jar of 100% psyllium husks I have claims that 1 tablespoon contains 0.05 net carbs. This psyllium husk has no sweeteners added.

I have Bob's Red Mill flaxseed meal.

      It says 2 Tbsp.
      Total Carb 4gm
      Dietary Fiber 4gm.

Doesn't that equal 0 net carbs?

No. They round up the numbers. If you plug the nutritional info into a hidden carb counter there's something like 0.7 or 0.8 carbs that are undeclared.

Nobody ever answered this part of your question. I'm interested in the answer because I take Sugar-Free Metamucil 2x daily and wanted to know whether it counted as anything. I've gotten contradictory answers and just want to know for once and for all. Thanks!!
