    Re: Going InSaNe!!!

He said don't count calories, not that calories don't count. If you're only eating 600 calories, whether with Atkins or not, your body is going to be upset and go into starvation mode.

He said the *minimum* is 64oz, so yes, you are meeting the minimum. I think that you have about 100lbs to lose if you're female and 5'3" which means you should probably be drinking a lot more than that. It will suck in the beginning but help in the long run.

I think that (off the top of my head) I cannot do a meal plan for somebody, but the difference with eating the skin or not is that it adds the fats and helps your ratios out. I would say that you should be eating butter or oil with veggies, either cut down or be on the veggie rung, I am assuming also that you are tracking your carb counts and they are still lower than 20.

I think that as a minimum is what it says in the book - I am actually at work right now - but that is a minimum for anybody to drink. I know there are various posts around the board that suggest drinking another (I think) 8oz for every 25lbs you are looking to lose...

Wow, that's a bunch of water. But, I'll try it for a week and see what happens there. I do know that you can over flood your system with water...and eventually drown yourself. So have to be really careful so that it doesn't happen. Yea, the carbs are staying between 15-20. I don't think that I've surpassed about 17 yet. And for the veg, yea, when I do my evening veg with dinner, I do cook it in butter if I can, and if not, then I use olive oil. I'm thinking that your right that I need to fit more fats in there...it's just a big question of where. Lol. Goodness...this stuff is getting too tricky to keep track of. What started off as what seemed so simple is turing monsterous!

It takes a lot of effort in order to do that. It takes me something like 250oz to start feeling the beginning of effects from it... Cook them *all* in butter, or add oil. It's pretty easy to add butter to things. When you eat the chicken, eat it with the skin instead of plain, cook in oil, or eat with mayo. For the salad, add oil to it, or oil and vinegar instead of ranch. It's not really so complicated when you get the hang of doing it right.

Try to be patient. Sometimes it's just hormones. Increase your water, challenge yourself with increased intensity in your workouts, and then stay off the scale for a while and know this will work. I also started around the time you did, and am on the nut rung now. This week my wt loss seemed to kick in again. The most important thing is to not get emotional about your wt or allow yourself to give in to self destructive behavior. Stay the course....

            Re: Going InSaNe!!!

I'll try doing some sort of a mayonnaise sauce of some form that I can do for the chicken and the steaks at night. The only veg that I don't cook are the lettuce, tomato and cucumber. I might cut the tomato as it's higher in the glycemic index than the cucumber. Today my salad was different. I added bacon to it today. I don't normally do that...but guess I'll have to do that too.

Did you say that you also knew some good lower body exercises that were safe for someone with a back injury?

Hey I just wanted to add that it is possible the effect you are seeing are hormonal? Is your TOM on the way? I gain water pound and about an inch around the waist int he week before TOM, but it comes off again as long as i just keep plugging on with the plan....

              Just something to consider?!

                Re: Going InSaNe!!!

                Hi there,

I'd really, really increase the water intake. It has been such a help to me and I feel so much better when I get enough of it... which runs right about 92 ounces per day and even though the first week might be a little rough, after that, the body seems to adjust (or mine did) and it really helped me with weight loss.

If I can just encourage you not to give up, make those suggested minor adjustments to your eating and drinking, I believe you'll see new results.

Yea, that was my immediate thought too! But, as it turns out, that just happened little more than 14 days ago...so it's too soon for that. Oooh do I ever wish that I could blame this on that. Lol. I did finally stop at 219.6 oz, gaining 2oz a day but starting Friday, loosing 2 and then today I am down 4oz again, bringing me to 219 even once more. I was 218 last Saturday...so I'm going to do my measurements and see what's going on there, and if there are any changes in that. But one thing that I have resolved to do is quit my measuremts and weigh-ins for a a solid 2 weeks to start, and see how that works for me. So I'm not relying on my numbers so much and getting depressed over them. I have kicked up my water drinking some, and my fats too. For a snack yesterday I made egg salad with mayo and some seasonings. That's out of the norm for me, but I do wonder...how does everyone else keep to the 65% fat, 30% Protein? I mean, how can someone injest that much fat a day? I'm cooking in butter, but I don't think that I'm doing enough of it. Does bacon fat maybe count in all of this? If it does, then right after I fry my bacon, I cook my scrambled eggs so that it's fully loaded with the bacon nummyness. Any ideas as to what I can change or do to make this a real fully charged weight loss deal?

Thanks for the replies! I needed support badly, and here, I feel to be getting it from all of you awesome people...thanks again. Yea, I know, I say that alot. Even my bf complains of it. LOL

                    Re: Going InSaNe!!!

I just came in on the post and haven't read it all, so some of this just might be repeated, and if so sorry
Use FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal for a couple days and check out the graft, it will give you the percentages.
1)Stay off the scales, they really don't help and like peeing on those ketosticks, really don't give you an accurate idea of what is going on.
                    2) Never go hungry, eat breakfast, lunch and dinner, and try to spread those carbs out over each meal.
                    3) Drink your water, take you multi, walk/exercise
Coming from a low-fat diet to a high fat is really daunting for many folks. If fitday tells you your not getting enough fat, then sprinkle cheese on your veggies.
Check out Lindas recipe site. Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home Her recipes always list fat, protein and carbs so you can see what is high fat.
And saying all that, you might just be a Whooshie loser. Someone who loses big numbers over long periods. I went 6 weeks without losing a pound, then overnight, I swear I lost 5 pounds, then the following week, 5 more and then nothing for weeks. Its weird, it happens.
Ranch is fine. Go for it

Thank you so much. I need to check out that site. Because if my percentages are supposed to be how they are...then...maybe that'll give me some good ideas as to how to up them and fidget with them to get them right. At least, I can hope.

                        Re: Going InSaNe!!!

When you have entered your menus into fitday you might find you are around the suggested percentages wihtout having to 'tweak' anything at all.

For example - eggs without any added fat at all work out at 61%fat/37% protein/3% carbs already.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

No...honestly...I didn't. I've been real bad about that too. The meds do serve their purpose as beta blockers, have you read what it says in the book about beta blockers? That's the main one that I'm on. But since I've been working out and walking (outside of today because I pulled a calf muscle real bad), the anxiety attacks have gotten a TON better! I've been so tickled over that.

I'm sure your script bottle has a warning label that states beta blockers should not be stopped abruptly. You may just want to let your doctor know that you stopped the meds. Just a concern & an opinion.
