  • Moving on??

OK so on Sunday I will have been on induction for the standard 2 weeks and I need to decide if staying on induction or moving to owl is best.

Can I ask why some stay on induction for longer?
Do you lose more weight staying on induction?

I lost a good amount the first week 2.6kg but this second week has been nothing short of torture at times. Don't get me wrong, I am loving this WOE but the side effects are not nice and I can't seem to get myself 'moving' IYKWIM...

I am wondering if constipation is an issue all through Atkins or is my body just not working properly at the moment - it has been 5 days now and I feel bad. Bloated and sore and generally unwell today.

I take fibre each day, drink an average of 3.5L a day (sometimes 3, sometimes 4)... My ratios are pretty good I do around 60% fat, 35% protein and 5% carbs, so I am happy with my diet as such.

So you can imagine, there has been no weight loss for me this second week and I am just unsure if I should stay on induction or move on.

    Opinions would be appreciated thanks...

Take a look at the chart in DANDR (chapter 13 I think) to see what sort of metabolic resistance your loss shows.

If it shows an average or low resistance to weight-loss then you probably will not gain much by staying on induction for longer than the 2 weeks.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

That is right - I forgot about the resistance factor.

        Re: Moving on??

Try to drink more water - it is one of the secrets to weightloss. So keep going on that. I hope you can get the problem fixed and get some relief. I can tell you that constipation is not a problem for me. I usually find that taking a magnesium supplement is what keeps me going. Also exercise helps a lot. When I started running it really got things going.

Also the first rung on OWL is more veggies which can only help you with your problem.
And not that is going to be that much of a difference but the percentages we are looking for is 65/5/30

Liv I drink between 3 and 4L of water a day. I exercise (step for half and hour and walking for half an hour) 7 days a week.

ceemarie - how do you use the flaxseed oil? do you use it in cooking?

            Thanks

              Re: Moving on??

My only bad side effect so far was also constipation even with increased water and fiber. So, I have been taking Miralax every other day. I know it's not natural but it works.

                Re: Moving on??

Well I have decided to stay on induction for a bit longer - I want to get this right.

I jumped on the scales this morning (I am a terrible daily weigher) and I was stunned to see I was down again. Weigh in day for week three is not until Monday but I was so proud of my efforts I just had to add them to my signature.

I am quite happy on the induction phase, and I lent my book to the DIL so not sure about my resistance factor yet, so think I will stay here for another week or so until I get my book back and then I will go from there.

                Feeling really good
