  • Carb/Calorie Free Chocolate!

I am lucky enough to have a low carb store in my town. Today I picked up some Walden Farms Chocolate sauce. It says it is Calorie and Carb Free!!! They also have jams and other sauces. It seems hard to believe. Has anyone else ever tried these products?
Chocolate is my weakness and I didn't think I would be able to go much longer without it. Now I can!
I thought I would share. There is a website on the label if anyone wants to take a look:
Yes, we love flavorful food as much as you do. That’s why we created the best tasting calorie free dressings, syrups, coffee creamers, condiments, dips, spreads and sauces, made with culinary inspired blends of herbs and spices.

The chocolate is calorie AND carb free. If you look at the picture, it has a a small "no carb" label on it too.

        Gotcha! lol thanks!

I wonder if they have actual nutrition info posted anywhere. I'm gonna try and find that now I could really go for some chocolate-anything!

I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole until you've read the ingredients list...I'd wager it's not Induction friendly.

Lately, I'll mix up a package of softened cream cheese with some cocoa and splenda, then freeze it in bite sized blobs...mmmmm creamy chocolatey goodness and it's legal with no worries.

Since you mentioned cocoa Moochiecat I've got a question.... I've looked for real, unsweetened cocoa at the markets and I'm not sure if I've found it. I found Hershey's cocoa for baking..."ingredients: cocoa" and that's it... is that what I should get? Sorry for the dumb question. If you by chance don't use Hershey's... what brand/type are you using? TYIA

That's what I use, just the baking cocoa in the tin. The brand I use (I'm in Canada) is Trophy. It's not as pricey as the big brand names and I'm quite cheap...lol..er...thrifty, yeah..that's it, thrifty!

I had the Walden Farms Chocolate Syrup last year, and wasn't impressed by the flavor but the ingredients are Ok for an extended induction I think*. I thought it was super sweet and not chocolate flavored enough. If your budget allows, try Droste cocoa powder or even Valrhona cocoa powder (both are 100% cocoa, no sugar). I'll never go back to Hersheys... and since I don't eat it often, it's really a treat when I do use it!

                  Walden Farms Chocolate Syrup

Ingredients: Triple filtered purified water, defatted cocoa powder, maltodextrin, caramel color, natural flavors, salt, foodstarch modified, xanthan gum, sucralose, potassium sorbate (to preserve freshness), polysorbate 60, vanilla and citric acid.

                  Serving size 2 TBS, Servings per container 12, Calories 0, Fat 0g, Cholest. 0mg, Sodium 35mg, Carbs 0g, Fiber 0g, Sugars 0g, Protein 0g.

                  * never mind, looked up maltodextrin. Corn syrup solids. Yummmm (not LOL)

Trying to find the carb count for unsweetened cocoa, but there seem to be many types... Anyone know? I recently found a Lindt pure cocoa powder, and wanted to know how much I can use...

                    Tks in advance...

Fitday says 3 carbs, 2 of it fiber carbs for each tablespoon, but I thought I read elsewhere it's 3 carbs, 1 fiber... I've always counted it as 2 net carbs. My Droste cocoa says 2 carbs, 1 fiber but I believe the ones packaged in Europe like that actually have the fiber removed form the total carb count, so the 2 carbs is indeed correct and not to minus another carb for fiber.
