I have been doing Atkins since 11/10/08. I started out at 200 pounds and now weigh 163 pounds. I have lost 37 pounds give or take a pound up or down on any given day. My scales have completely stopped moving for 2 weeks! I might go to 36 pounds lost one day and then back to 37 pounds but no more. I am working out 5 times per week-- doing a dance workout and weights for my arms. It's so frustrating! Should I try to do induction again to jump start my weight loss again? I'm not sure if you should re-start induction once you have already lost a lot?? I have about 15 more pounds to lose to be where I want to be. Help! I'm starting to feel really discouraged (which is silly because I've already lost quite a bit). Atkins was relatively easy the first 3 months I was on it..but the last month or so has been more difficult. I haven't cheated yet but I can't say I haven't thought about it. Everyime I get on the scale and it doesn't move I get a little closer to saying "what's the point?" I know I just have to keep remembering what it was like BEFORE and that should be enough incentive!

Re: Try induction again???
Hang in there! Plateaus are not uncommon (I've been on one since Jan. 1). And the less you have to lose, the longer it takes! PLUS, you're building muscle doing your workouts and that weighs more than fat. I know it's frustrating, but don't be discouraged!Originally posted by IndianaGirl View PostI have been doing Atkins since 11/10/08. I started out at 200 pounds and now weigh 163 pounds. Re: Try induction again???
Many of our members who stay on induction for a longish time find their losses slow and even stop in time but when they start the second phase of Atkins their losses start again.
Are you chceking your measurements? A 'stall' is reckoned to be 4 weeks of no inches or weight lost, so with your exercising you might be losing FAT even if your scales say no losses.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: Try induction again???
You are on level 7 of OWL? What kind of new foods have you introduced lately?
I must say that you are pretty lucky not to have seen a small pause until now. They will happen a lot. Just hang in there. Sounds like you are doing things correctly.

Re: Try induction again???
Thanks for the support! It just gets so hard sometimes-- always being vigilant of what you eat and how many carbs and then for the scale to stop! I'll hang in there-- I went to try on swimsuits today as more incentive to remind me of how far I've come-- and where I still want to be! About the OWL thing...I honestly don't know what rung I'm on but I had to pick one. I must admit that I have not read the Atkins book (gasp!) and don't know anything about the rungs. I sort of started out watching my carbs and just kept going, now 4 months later here I am. My mom has given me lots of advice as she has read the book and has done Atkins in the past. I guess I've done okay so far!

Re: Try induction again???
You have done well so far!!!
How many carbs are you eating now? What kind of food to you get your carbs from? Veggies? dairy? fruit? sweeteners?

Re: Try induction again???
In a typical day I eat one lean steak done on my foreman, 2 cups of broccoli or cauliflower with ranch, one apple, and then some tuna salad or chicken salad with with some sort of lettuce or salad. Sometimes I will have sugar free jello as a snack or some pepperonis. I'd say some days I don't eat enough because I can't bring myself to eat any more eggs or meat. I'm getting really tired of eating meat, eggs, tuna, salmon...I almost feel some days that if I take one bite of any of those I will surely get sick. Is that normal? I feel like I've burnt myself out by eating too much of the same things.

Re: Try induction again???
You make your own food? I suggest exploring some recipes and some new things. Perhaps some new veggies or something you have not tried.
You should have breakfast every day.
You can eat a whole apple without a sugar spike? I eat apple but always with a bit of peanut butter to avoid spikes.
How about trying some berries and yogurt in your diet? A few nuts?
Go to the OWL forum and check out the stickies on how to do OWL and start trying more items. IT will be fun

Re: Try induction again???
There's no reason why you can't do another induction, lose your 15 lbs and then start on OWL (after you read the book)...
However... induction has even MORE meat / cheese / eggs etc... but hopefully the weight loss will curb your distaste of eating the same things continuously...
How did you pick the number 150lbs?

Re: Try induction again???
I picked the number 150 because for my height I think that the first weight that is below "overweight" is 154. That is the weight where I would have a normal BMI. I would like to have some wiggle room so I figured 150 would be a good number to start. Honestly, I would like to be around 135 or 140 but I figured I'd start with a mini goal. I never thought I'd lose 37 pounds so I know I can do it eventually...if the scale ever moves again that is!
Thanks everyone for you support. The recipes are very helpful. I have had a lot more motivation since I first started this thread and have exercised my butt off and have only eaten eggs, bacon, fish, salad, broccoli, and cheese burger with no bun the past 2 days. I'm hoping this will help.

Re: Try induction again???
That's what I did when I picked 124 way back when... once I got there it was so easy to get to 115 where I decided to stop... Yah, so, I think starting OWL at 150 would work good because you are right on the edge there and it wouldn't hurt to keep going down from that point even though the loss will be a lot slower...
Sounds like you started induction 2 days ago

Do you know what are your fat and protein intakes? It seems to me there is very little fat in your menu, although I could be wrong.Originally posted by IndianaGirl View PostIn a typical day I eat one lean steak done on my foreman, 2 cups of broccoli or cauliflower with ranch, one apple, and then some tuna salad or chicken salad with with some sort of lettuce or salad. While technically you can go back to Induction, Dr. Atkins recommends this as the last alternative to breaking a stall during OWL. What you should first do is lower your carbs by at least 5 g net carbohydrate, because you might have exceeded your CCLL. Another thing you should do is eliminate the food(s) you added right when your stall began. If you still don't lose, then you should lower your carbs even more until you get back in ketosis (if you were ever out) or start losing again, whichever happens first. If all these experiments fail, only then should you go back to Induction. However, there is no need to do a two-week Induction -- a few days should be enough to put you back in fat burning mode.Originally posted by msanjelpie View PostThere's no reason why you can't do another induction, lose your 15 lbs and then start on OWL (after you read the book)...
The last 5-10 lbs should be lost in Pre-Maintenance. Also, it is good to spend a relatively long time in OWL, so that you have time to correctly progress through the rungs, discover how you react to different foods and determine your CCLL. If you choose to do Induction until you reach 150 lbs, then you will not give yourself enough time to spend in OWL. And while you may reach goal without knowing your CCLL and CCLM or your reaction to different foods and food combinations, maintaining it will be very difficult.Originally posted by msanjelpie View PostYah, so, I think starting OWL at 150 would work good because you are right on the edge there and it wouldn't hurt to keep going down from that point even though the loss will be a lot slower...
You must be 3 days into Induction. Are you in ketosis? After you get back there, use the info in the sticky threads Liv suggested and add foods/carbs back a little slower.
