  • Onwards and downwards!

Well, I just finished the 14-day induction as of Monday morning (as my .sig mentions, I'm on the grave shift, so night and day to me are swapped around). I lost 17 pounds in total! As a treat, I allowed myself a few berries with splenda-sweetened whipped cream after dinner. Now it's on to Extended Induction.

I've still got quite a few pounds to lose...started off at 260, now down to 243. From what I can see, the loss started tapering off just before the weekend. I'm ready and raring to go again, though! I'm feeling better than I have in YEARS!

My first goal is to get down to 215 (where I was when I met my DH), then down to 195 (the lowest weight I can ever remember being...when I was in college. Before that is a blur).

Here's hoping that the extended induction helps out :joy

    welcome to extended induction.

One thing that will makeit easier ofr you to do and to maintain yor weight loss is to stop using foods as a reward for good behavior orfor anything. set some goals and set some rewards whatever none food reward would keep you motivated. for me it was money in my 100 pounds lost shopping trip. for another big loser it was new lipstick/gloss every 5 pounds. Whatever you need use it but don't use food as we are trying to break the habits that got us big in the first place and food as a reward conditioning is a biggie for almost all of us. just think you were good at the docs you got a sucker you got a good mark mom made you a special treat, you were good anddidn't fight at the store mon buys you a treat. the pattern goes on and on we reward ourselves with food got a new job dinner out and as you can see it lead to a bigger us. break that habit and your weight kloss will be much much easier.

My difficulty is a little different...I'm a chronic under-eater, rather than a reward eater. :yikes I did Body For Life a couple of years ago, and while I found the "Free Day" they allow was fun, I think it stalled me more than anything else. On Atkins, I've gotten to the point where I don't really crave anything that would set off a binge. My only real binge trigger is chocolate, and it causes migraines in large doses. You can understand that while I love the stuff, I'm avoiding it like the plague.

My DH is also a bit of a food hedonist. He likes all sorts of things that he can get away with due to his lower body weight. I've been dutifully avoiding the things he can eat/drink in abundance. The berries were my only concession...and trust me, I've tracked 'em with fitday! Strangely enough, I was still within my carb limit, and it actually helped get me to my calorie goal for the day. I'll be watching out for little slips like that in the future, however, since I don't want to set up "food rewards" that could get me into that pattern. Clothing rewards are going to be my goals. I have just enough clothes to get me through to a size 16 (I'm now a size 22 after the 17 lbs lost).

iyshiaf: Thanks for the congrats...I've still got a long way to go! Just a little nudge, though...you may want to turn off the caps lock key, since some folks consider that shouting ensive
