  • encouragement please!!

It's day 26 since I started and I've only gotten 11 pds off. I want to cheat soooo bad today!!!! I have been super busy/stressed as I work for a funeral home that has had a surge in business the last 2 weeks and we have had a death within our family. So, I haven't had time for breakfast in the mornings because I am so worn out and I don't get up in time, I'm having my usual Subway grilled chicken sald with ranch and I've been having a protein with a veggie at night. I did cook some bacon one night his week to have for breakfast the next day, I went up the morning after I ate it. I'm feeling worn down and I REALLY WANT TO CHEAT TODAY!!!! The past 2 days have been rough with the cheat thing, I'm thinking my body is telling me I need something more. Help!!

    Re: encouragement please!!

When folks say they want to cheat, I always wonder if they aren't eating something that might be causing them to crave.
Breakfast is really important, Try a quick and easy egg nog, (whip up 3 eggs with a 1/4 cup heavy cream and a 1/4 cup water, a pack of splenda and a drop or two of vanilla extract.
Bacon is fine unless your sensitive to salt which might be causing you to retain water.
BUT I think your just not eating enough food. How about string cheese, hard boiled eggs, something legal to munch on.

I'm sorry about your stress load... I know how much that can drain a person

As I've been going through this, I've found that as long as I keep my fat intake up pretty high, I feel very little urge to cheat. I don't have a strong affinity for pastries and vending machines anymore, it's weird and wonderful. Try adding lots of oil or mayonnaise to you foods, it worked wonders for me

        Define cheat…
If you want something sweet or crunchy, there are tons of legal treat recipes out there and I believe there are also some on this site. If you’re wanting something greasy and fried that is carb laden…I can honestly tell you I have been there and still have the cravings. The thing is, soon after you eat the junk, your body will not react well to it and if THAT doesn’t getcha, the sheer guilt will beat you down more than anything ever could. Please try to find something legal to snack on and make sure to always keep it handy. I read somewhere in the DANDR that a good way to kill a craving fast was to eat something really high in fat. Macadamia nuts are a really good source of fat that’s legal for low carbers.
I agree that eating breakfast is not negotiable. I am the QUEEN of running out the door with a million things to do so I make sure t opack my stuff at night so that I can simply grab and go!

Oh, it's totally greasy, fried food that I want. Like french fries and a cheese steak sub....I think I'm going to get the pizza shop to make me a salad with all the cheesesteak stuff on it, steak, cheese, onions and mushrooms and load it down with mayo, this might help...

            for the stress.

Eating the fat with the salad sounds perfect for you and your cravings....crunch with fat, although low on the mayo 'cause me thinks that the cheese alone with be just enough for the comfort part of the foods.

Hang tough. You've got a job that takes a special person and dealing with death in your own family is enough to raise the emotion level a bit more. Take care of you and don't forget your water and exercise...get out and walk when you get a chance, each time you think about it.

like everyone else has said, my cravings come around when my fat intake is low. also that ranch you're eating on your salad does have sugar in it. even if its 1gram, it may still make cravings worse if you eat it every day. try switching up your veggies and having some that are more filling. being full helps my cravings too. breakfast is the most important meal of the day, if you dont have time, get up earlier and make time! this is about taking care of yourself, its got to be a priority. good luck!

I guess I was hoping to be one of those Atkins stories were I lose like 30 lbs a month, afterall, I am about 120 over what my supposed "ideal" weight. I guess I need to have more patience. Thanks for all the advice peeps!!!! I ate the salad with mayo and it was almost as good as the actual sub and I think I'll get beyond this craving thing today. I'm satisfied and okay for now.

well theres no better way to make that happen that to work out a bunch.
don't compare yourself to other people's losses. your woosh won't happen the same time as someone else's. i had to wait till my 4th week to see any consistant loss, the entire 2nd and 3rd week i -gained- and stayed there. so i'm in week foUr and although i lost 10lbs the first week, i'm only at 8lbs lost now. but i'll take it, a loss is a loss!

I get the mama lupe low carb wraps from netrition (can't find them locally)

                      Mama Lupe's Low Carb Tortillas

They sell good steaks for cheese steaks at Sam's but you can find them anywhere. That with a few pieces of cheese and a few onions with some mayo helps me out.

I know the wraps are not induction friendly but it's much better than cheating

First of all- 11 pounds is amazing!!! Congrats! I suggest trying a new recipe to get your mind off cheating- and remember, we all have to chose between a healthy, beautiful body and the short lived pleasure of giving in to temptation!

Have you tried making chicken nugget by chopping up chicken breast, and tossing them in a bit of crushed pork rinds and seasoning? Fry em up in butter and you've got crispy, crunchy nuggets!

Don't give in!!! The 11 pounds will fly back on your body with avengence! Good luck!

she states she's on induction -- these tortillas are not allowed on induction.

                            Re: encouragement please!!

I have persevered!!! My husband wanted to go to supper at a little deli near us, I got them to make me a chefs salad with grilled chicken, pickles, cheese, grilled onions and mushrooms and I had a spicy italian sausage, no bun with mustard for something different. I'm over the cheat thing today. I totally think it was the fat increase that helped. I had eggs with butter this morning, a double cheeseburger, no bun with a little xtra mayo and green beans for lunch. I think we're having steaks and salad for dinner tonight. I'm working at the water thing too. Just waiting for more to come off!!
