OK it looks like most people love the Hidden Valley Ranch dressing from my post yesterday. I went to the grocery store last night and was looking at the bottle and I noticed that sugar was a part of the ingredient list. For those of you who use this, does the sugar not affect your weight loss?

The salad dressing Rule in the Acceptable Foods list is no more than 2 net carbs and no added sugar.
Some people still use these products as long as the net carbs don't exceed 2 net grams.

In limited amounts, yes...but you'll notice it's in the special category foods. Also, rhubarb is a fruit that's on the 1 cup list, but remember, it's all about the effect these foods have on your blood sugar. Lemons and rhubarb are not known for their natural sugars, right? :yikes lol so there they are, but in limited amounts.Originally posted by sassygoddess13Sometimes I get totally confused by the book. One minute, it says absolutely positive no fruits on induction. Then it says you can have lemon or lime juice. Weird.
Vinegar, oil and crushed garlic make a delicious dressing...and garlic is allowed...you'll see it listed in the Herbs section on page 126 of DANDR.Then I read that I can have vinegar and oil dressing and then on the sample menu, garlic dressing is okay.

I promise you this will get easier the more you get familiar with the Acceptable Foods list, and the 'why' behind the way Atkins works. :yes

I agree! The Carb well dressings are good! I get the italian. I would stay away from the Carb Options stuff, though. Yeeeechhhh!!! Nasty! And they are NOT cheap! I do use Hidden Valley but not all the time, I like to change it up! I love the feta and tomato Hidden Valley! And the sugar amount, some might have issue with but I, myself, and most people I know who use it do not stall on it because the amount is "trivial", as they say. If you notice, it is pretty far down the list. If you feel uncomfortable with it, I would say switch to the carb well dressings. They really are pretty good.

I think of it like mayonaise. The sugar amount is neglible, and the carb count is under the 2g per 2TBS. As with anything though (even with 0g), monitor yourself after the addition of a new food and check for any negative effects.Kent - 35-M-6'4"

Where do you get those carb well dressings? If they have it in Texas and North Carolina, they should have it in Maryland? I'm going to Nags Head on Vacation in July, if I don't find it here by then, I'll have to go grocery shopping down there!Chriss Female 246/236/160 5'3"
