  • Fat Fasting for just a few days..

    It's the end of my 2 week induction and I've lost 5lbs according to my high weight on my 2nd day of induction. But going by the weight I was on the day I started, I've only lost 3lbs, which is definitely high metabolic resistance.
    I want to try the 1,000 calorie fat fast today, and possibly up to 4 days depending on how I feel after 1 day.
    I am not necessarily doing it for weight loss but I want to do it to help curb my appetite after splurging on 2 diet pepsi's yesterday.
    One day won't hurt and I mainly want to see what it does for me, mentally.
    I'll update here with my results, both mental and phsyical.. if there is any.
    For some reason I just feel the need to do this!

    I'd urge you to re-think and experiment more before opting for the fat fast. It can be very dangerous to those who aren't extremely metabolically resistant. The other thing is that most people end up re-gaining more than they lost on the fat fast, when they move back to Atkins proper.

    You've only been on the plan for a couple of weeks so need to give it more time.

      I haven't seen the fat fast be very successful for people that are trying to curb sweets, carbs, jump-start their loss or get any positive results. I don't think that we are always our best judge of what is metabolically resistance.

      I've seen people who do the fat fast but then return because they gained weight when they tried to resume Atkins.

      If you are being honest with yourself, you might want to try a clean induction instead. Lay off the fake sugars, etc. But don't stray too far, regardless of what you have decided.

        I've gorged myself with fat only for a weekend.More like 2500-3000 calories though.,To the point of nausea if I looked at fat.It really kicked my wt loss into another gear.Beleve I dropped 6 lbs that weekend and have kept it off.Not sure if that is what you mean by fat feast.I have found calorie restricting to be non productive.

          Fat Fast is a "program" Dr. Atkin recommends in his book to those who are metabolicly resistant. Its on page 272 in DANDR.

          I am doing it for just one day for personal reasons then I am going to continue on extended induction!
