  • Please Help!!! I'm Stalling.

    Okay so last week Tuesday when I weighed in I showed no weight loss, but I determined it was because I had added low carb tortilla's into my diet and I promptly cut them out and stuck to basic Induction food this past week. Well, this morning I weighed in and I have lost NO weight AGAIN. Its really starting to bother and frustrate me. I know with how much I weigh that the weight should be coming off pretty steady this early in the game (This is the start of the 5th week back on Atkins. The first week I dropped 15 Pounds, the second week I dropped 3 pounds…3rd week nothing and this week (4th) nothing. I don’t know what is going on and I am losing faith in this (Which is frustrating because I know first hand that it works) And I am committed to changing my life…but I need to get past this hump. I never had this trouble when I did Atkins before (I lost 100 pounds)…however some things have changed since I did it back then (2004-05). For one I was pretty strict for the first 7 months… Only getting protein, fat and some veggies from basic sources.

    Now I pretty much know the rules more so I eat a little different, a bigger variety (still induction friendly foods though)

    Okay so let me walk you through this week and the foods I ate…

    Smoked Gouda Cheese, American, Cheddar & A string cheese
    Slice smoked turkey deli meat
    Homemade pot roast
    Shredded beef tostada (minus the shell) So just the meat, sour cream, lettuce, cheese and Mexican hot sauce (minimal amount).
    Eggs
    Bacon
    Sausage
    Oopsie rolls
    Salad
    Ribs ( No bbq sauce)
    2 Meat balls.
    Sugarfree Gum
    Coffee w/cream ( no more then 2 small cups a day if that)

    I think that pretty much covers it for this week. I haven’t been to the gym this week due to finals this week. But that shouldn’t make a difference because when I lost weight on Atkins before back in 2004-05 about half the time I spent not working out. Another note: I feel like I am holding on to water a little bit maybe (could be my imagination)… I think TOM is maybe anywhere from a few days to a week away. But I’m not sure if that would make a difference. Also I did not get enough sleep this past week due to finals and such.

    Well any suggestions or feedback is appreciated (and desperately needed) ….Thanks

    Looks like a few things may be stressing you out and for some it can be harder to lose. My advice is just hang in there. It will happen for you.
    And don't compare to a few years back. Every diet we do - changes us, years changes us. Every trip will be different. Look into the STAC forum and see those second timers share their experience and that is what they will tell you.

    Can you give us a typical daily menu? I am not sure how much you ate from looking at your weekly list.

      Yes I am a bit stressed out! I have absolutely no enegry because I'm not getting enough sleep. Okay here was my meal yesterday to give you an ideal...

      Breakfast:

      3 Sausage links
      2 cups Coffee w/cream ..no sweetner


      Lunch:

      Homemade Tuna Salad between Oopsie roll


      Dinner: (Kinda Random)

      Oopsie French Toast w/bacon
      Ribs

        Yesterday you had no veggies. You need to get all your balanced nutrients. Do you take supplement? We need to get the body balance so that it will let go of the excess fat. Just work through your finals and let the body do what it has to and I am sure things will happen better for you after. Good luck with your work.

          fillers in sausage and nitrats in bacon slow me. too much cheese slows me too. i know its hard not to compare your loss to past losses but it really is different every time. last time i lost 32lbs from 212 to 180 in around 2 months, and that was with cheats and little exercise. this time im down 15.4 in a month and a half with no cheats and exercise. also last time my loss was relatively steady. this time it looks more like this ...

          it may be discouraging to see gains and stalls now and then, but looking at my weekly weights, i'm still averaging over 2lbs a week, which is great. remember its a long haul and the longer you go the easier it is to see the pattern.

            So true Kibs. Weightloss is not linear. There will be some ups and downs and pauses for sure.

              Thanks for your feedback ladies. I am concerned only because of my weight...if I was smaller I would kinda expect the stalls here and there and slow pace. But I have a considerable amount to lose so I don't know whats the problem. Its probably the lack of sleep and all the stress...also to be honest I don't eat nearly as many veggies as I did the first 2 weeks. I think last week I only had a salad one or maybe two days and that was it for veggies. I am going to try and add veggies everyday and get more sleep...hopefully that will do it.

                Is the bacon sugared?
                Sauages are mystery meat really.. So just check whats actually in them.
                Plus cheese can stall some people...Sad but true. I love cheese, I just can't eat it without over eating it XD

                  I agree with that, I usually check sausage and bacon to make sure there aren't lots of sugars or carbs. I've found sugar free bacon which is good. But watch out for the hickory smoked ones, I think they add a bit of sugar. Same with sausage, you might want to compare some brands according to the carb count before you get them.

                  Sometimes you'll stall, but it doesn't mean the atkins way is not working... keep on it and you'll lose weight. If it goes on for a few more weeks, you might try cutting back 5g of carbs and see how that works. Good luck
