I have increased my exercise and not changed my eating habits...still at 20 carbs a day. I haven't lost weight in a month. Everyone is telling me to add carbs for a week then go back down to 20 but I'm not sure. Any ideas?

Re: I have stalled...help
I think by 'add carbs' she means folks are telling her to eat 'regular food' and then go back to Atkins. I don't think she means climbing the carb ladder, though I could be wrong.
I think it is time to go into Ongoing Weight loss phase as well. The book advises cutting out cheese, nuts, condiments, caffeine, sugar free candies to get past a stall, getting super strict until things get moving. But do accept, some plateause are to be expected.
Kudos to you for upping the exercise... so you are still improving your body, even if your scale argues with you. You might be adding some muscle mass. And congrats on your success so far!

Re: I have stalled...help
are you losing inches? Many times when you stop losing weight your body is still adjusting and you'll be losing inches. I would suggest going to OWL Rung 1 and add 5 net carbs of vegetables per day.....you won't gain weight by adding additional veggies. The other suggestion is to post your meals on the Review My Menu thread Review My Menu - Atkins Diet to see if anyone can pick up anything you are missing. Also how much water are you drinking each day? You should be drinking AT LEAST 64 ounces of PURE water daily - nothing added, pure water only.
Your start date says May 5, 2009 but you say you haven't lost any weight in a month???? I assume that means you have been on some other weight loss plan or you were following Atkins before you actually joined this board?Carole_____________________May Water 130oz daily

Re: I have stalled...help
I would not quit the induction phase just yet. I'd look for something else. Have you considered a yeast problem? Try spitting into a glass of water first thing in the morning. If there are trails down from the spit then you may have a yeast problem. Go to the Candida section of this board.
Dr. Atkins offers many other answers for this. Have you done the keyto-sticks? What are the results?sigpic

Re: I have stalled...help
okay, you aren't loosing inches or weight. Did you do the spit test?
Also, are you doing the New Atkins or the Old Atkins? I've noticed that the New Diet Revolution book which was his last book is different from the old one.
Tell me what you had to eat today and what you did for exercise? Other than chasing kids and taking care of a baby! OMGosh that's a lot of work!sigpic

Re: I have stalled...help
I did the spit test and nothing happened; so it's not yeast. I workout 5 days a week an hour and a half per work out. Boxing, Total bady cardio and strength training, running, hiking...I like to mix it up.
Yesterday's menu was
Breakfast: Veggie Omlette and two slices of turkey bacon
Snack: one String cheese
Lunch: Tuna salad with one hard boiled egg and tomato
Dinner: Baked Chicken with a semi large salad
Desert: Atkins bar
I wasn't aware of the "new" Atlins book
I didn't make my goal of being under 200lbs for my birthday which is today but it's okay becuase I'm close

Re: I have stalled...help
Atkins bars are known stallers.
Are you eating 3 cups of vegetables, with over half of your net carbs coming from there? What is the fat percentage in your menus?"Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: I have stalled...help
Okay Georgiana is right... No Atkins bars allowed. Those things are snaks for people who have achieved their weight loss and want to eat something not candy. Don't eat them. Stay away from the shakes too. It's all the money-making side of Atkins company and not Dr. Atkins.
AND I don't see any fat on that menu... eating low fat is a sure way to short circuit your weight loss. How about some real bacon in the morning and is the skin on that chicken? Otherwise you need to get more cheese or something else with a higher fat content to kick you fat-burn on in the morning.
"Dr. Atkins NEW Diet Revolution" is the edited modern version that was published around the time of his death. It's a lot clearer and cleaner and the induction phase is presented differently. So is the "OWL" which was never really talked about in that way before. Get the book. It's worth it.
You might also read "The Doctors Heart Cure" by Al Sears M.D. so that you can get your weight loss back on track. Remember.... muscle weights more than fat so if your weight training you have to believe your mirror (and the tape measure)... not the scale.
