  • Too much fat?

    Hi,

I'm currently on week 3. Although I decided to move on to OWL I'm still eating induction only foods (I really enjoy them) and haven't increased my carbs yet as I feel satisfied with what I'm eating, so I guess I'm really on extended induction. I still have over 100lbs to lose.

Originally I struggled to eat enough fat but started adding cream to scrambled eggs, eating more cheese etc and now my fat % is around 70%, protein a little under 30% and carbs down to around 3%. Is this OK? I'm still losing weight, don't feel hungry at all, no cravings (apart from yesterday I did try increasing the amount of carbs I ate in one meal and afterwards I felt cravings so I think I need to keep my carbs low), I find sticking to the WOE easy and have loads of energy.

Is this amount of fat I'm eating OK? Should I cut back on the fat and increase the protein. I would really rather not increase the carbs unless I really have to.

That amount of fat is fine. Don't short your veggie carbs, though. It's when you really start OWL by increasing your carbs that the fat needs to go down. The protein stays the same, but the precentage for fat goes down as the precentage of carbs goes up.

What is Cathedral City? The rest of your menu looks great.

That is just great. Many days I eat a lot more fat than that. I am happy if calories come from fat. I worry more about proteins being to high. You're doing great.
I agree with Sunny don't skimp on veggies. They are going to keep us healthy for the rest of our lives so we have to get used to working them in.

          Re: Too much fat?

I'm eating about 80% fat, maybe 18 % or so protein and trace of carbs. Been doing this for a good 4 months. My goal has been always 2 lbs a week loss but have averaged around 3.5 lbs.A few years ago I did 2 weeks induction then moved up.Well before I got to my present weight, the hunger had returned, cheating began and weight had begun creeping back up.Just so much more simple to keep on induction.Of course everyone has to decide for themselves. Can't believe I am probably only 20 lbs from being totally lean.I love it.

Thanks for your replies. Good to hear that others eat more fat too and it's OK.

SunnySmile, as Elizellen has said Cathedral City is a cheddar cheese. I also have Applewood Smoked Cheddar but the variety I have has the same carbs etc as Cathedral City so I just enter CC for which ever one I have.

Phil, it's interesting to hear that your hunger returned once you moved on up. I think the cravings I got yesterday came from extra red pepper. I need to be careful only to add green veggies gradually for now.

I'm very pleased with myself today. I attend dog training and this afternoon we had a tea party in aid of the Blue Cross. The only food there was cakes and they were lovely cakes too! I planned ahead and took some celery, a couple of cherry tomatoes and cheese to eat. I was very good and didn't have a single bite of cake.
