  • Dang McDonalds Salad

So, I bought a grilled chicken bacon ranch salad from McDonalds for lunch. I went online BEFOREHAND to check the nutrition facts...Well, as I'm pouring the ranch dressing on the salad I glanced at the nutrition facts. 9g carbs, sugar, corn syrup!! ARGHH! I'm going to eat it because I bought it....but BUYERS BEWARE!!! Not happy right now. And now to add to that, I just found out that the fiber I take every morning has 10 carbs. So I've been doing 15-20 carbs a day on induction...then realizing that it has really been 25-30 carbs a day. Although I have lost 7 lbs so far (maybe more I haven't weighed lately) and definitely a change in clothing fit. I'll just nix the fiber and keep it pushing!!

A good lesson for us all to make sure we read labels before eating any packaged foods.

Fibre has virtually no net carbs, so if you do need all that fibre to 'regularise' yourself then it will not exceed your carb allowance for the day.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Thank you so much Elizellen. Nowadays everything I see with any carbs I freak out!! So maybe I'll just cut back on my fiber. Thanks for a quick reply too!! I really want to make this WOE as successful as possible. I know I will make mistakes, such as the one I made today, but I want to note those mistakes to keep from doing it again.

when you know you will be eating out take your own dressing so you won't have this problem in the future. All salad dressing has some carbs but if you look you'll find ones that have less than others. Also make sure there aren't any carrots in the salad - those have to come out also. I know the side salad usually has 2 pieces of carrot in it but they are easy to pick out and throw away. When you take your own salad dressing you will also have 1 portion instead of the 2 or 2.5 portion in the McDonald's package. What I do is keep the dressing on the side and dunk the salad into the dressing - that way every bite has dressing and most of the time the salad is gone before the dressing is!

You will learn to prepare in advance for eating out -- just stop "freaking out" when you see carbs....you are allowed carbs each day just make sure you eat good carbs not bad ones. I use to be leary of every food I put in my mouth bue since I've been on plan for awhile I don't worry about it as much. Good luck

It's truly amazing how much sugar is added in everything. I have to check the restaurant's website before I go. Otherwise, I will be concerned about calories in a chicken breast!!!

I'm just thankful that the nutritional information for many restaurants is available.

Yea, I'm just starting extended induction and I can't help but to be really careful about everything until I get the hang of things...but I did pick out the carrots in the salad, I remembered that after eating carrots in a salad!! Thanks all.
