  • Im stalling and Can I eat beef liver?

I'm down to tryin to lose the last ten pounds (started at 167 and down to 151) and am struggling. I've been eating mostly salmon, chicken, shrimp, crab and lobster. I also eat the low carb pancakes, broccoli, Caesar salad without croutons, bacon, Swiss cheese and steakumms. Any suggestions?

    Also, can I eat liver?

It is difficult to advise on your menu without seeing quantities, but your food choices seem ok to me.

Are the pancakes commercially produced ones? If so are all the ingredients 'legal' for whatever rung of OWL you are at? I am assuming that you are not still hanging around on induction being so close to your weight goal

Liver would come under the category of 'meat organs' and is mentioned in the footnotes to the allowed meats.

Finally, do not consume more than four ounces of organ meats a day

I found the recipe on the low carb pancakes on the site and its the one that consists of cream cheese, flax meal, splenda, cinammon. I also found an ipod application that helps me track my calories/carbs/exercise which i've been using in addition to the low carbs but although I'm always under the allocated daily intake of calories, I'm just not losing as fast I should. Since I've been doing the calories limit and the low carbs, I have lost 8 pounds in 15 days...I plan to stay in the Induction phase until I drop the last 10...lol

Well staying on induction to goal is not the best plan (in my opinion) because at some point you should be more familiar with your body deals with all kinds of foods so you should test them out.

Weightloss will slow down as we get nearer goal. It will not matter if we do induction or not.

So do you eat that pancake with something sweet? It does not look quite legal We have to worry with cheese limits. Flax is only to be used for constipation and splenda and cinnamon both have carbs. So it could be a carby thing. But it sounds good

You could try a more detailed menu. What are you eating today for instance.

To do Atkins according to 'the book' you really ought to be thinking about moving to OWL now as Dr Atkins expected us to move on from OWL when we have only 5-10 pounds left to go.

Here is a quote from the beginning of chapter 16 on the third phase of Atkins - premaintenance
You’re almost there! All your good work and healthy eating habits have paid off, and you now have only 5 to 10 pounds left to reach your goal weight. Give yourself a good pat on the back; you deserve it!
Having said that, I have to insert a note of caution. You may not like what follows, but it is vitally important that you hear it.
If you have been racing along the road to your destination, now is the time to put on the brakes. Much as it is tempting to say, "I can banish these last pounds in a few weeks now that I know how to do Atkins," I strongly advise you to do something that seems quite the opposite on Pre-Maintenance, the all-important third phase of Atkins. As you advance toward Lifetime Maintenance, my advice is to proceed so slowly that your weight loss is almost imperceptible. I know that this snail's pace can be excruciating when the end is in sight. But remember, getting to your goal weight is not your ultimate goal; your real goal is to maintain that magic number indefinitely.
Our focus is now different. There is little doubt you can and will reach your goal weight. The only doubt is whether you will stay at that weight for life. The purpose now is to create the optimal lifetime eating program-one that fits you so perfectly you will want to stay on it for life.
When you moved to OWL, you deliberately slowed down your weight loss by adding more carbs and more variety to your menus. Now I am going to ask you to slow things down even further. The more you learn about eating as you lose those last few pounds, the better. Your next assignment is to increase your carbohydrate consumption until you're losing less than a pound a week. The additional foods will provide increased nutrition and culinary enjoyment. Ideally, you should spend at least a month and preferably two or three in this phase.

Re: Im stalling and Can I eat beef liver?

Today i had the low carb pancakes and six strips of center cut bacon...for lunch I am having 8 oz of catfish and two servings of broccoli..havent gotten around to dinner yet....

The recipe for the low carb pancakes is 2 oz cream cheese, 1 egg, 2 packets splenda, 2 tablespoons flax meal and sprinke of cinammon. I eat the pancakes about two - three times a week when I dont have anything else to eat for breakfast and I like getting in flax meal because even before I did Atkins, I've always had issues going.

I have what i like to call my fighting weight which is about 145-147 which has been hard for me to get back to because my eating habits have been way off for almost the past year...and i mean way off...when i first did atkins (went from 200 to 145) and once i hit that weight i was able to keep it off just by watching what I ate and stuck strictly within the induction phase.
