  • Hello

My name is bran and I am new. I have been doing low carb for 13 days now and keeping a journal in MS Word listing all the foods I have per day. I am a very heavy guy (pushing 575), but these last 13 days have been so wonderful for me. I think it would just be even easier for me if I had some people who knew what I was going through, so I came here. I am getting the DANDR very soon (on payday). I have cut out all the caffeine and am having anywhere from 9 to 15 carbs per day. I also started some walking (I still can't do much due to my weight but I am thinking that doing what I can everyday is better than doing nothing). I am also doing some light weights.

I hope that I can meet some of you. I sat and read your posts for a long time and you are really an inspiring group of people.

        thanks

i have been living off nothing but the acceptable foods list on the atkins website until i can get a copy of the book just because i couldn't wait to start. if it isn't on the list, i don't eat it. i am feeling very positive and when i read the faq's i was very encouraged. i felt a little grumpy and lethargic for a few days but on the fourth or fifth day i felt the 'boost' as my body transitioned into ketosis.

i have to say that i love this diet. i thought i would really be suffering with hunger, but the foods we are allowed to eat are so filling and long lasting. it has been the first time in so long that i have had the feeling that i was actually not hungry.

i am happy i found this board.

        see you later.

You are so right Bran - it is so good not to feel restricted (after all those 'rabbit food' lowfat diets) or hungry!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

                Hi Bran,

My DH & I did the same thing you are doing, we didn't get the book until we had been on induction for over a week. It turns out we were doing fine just going to the Atkins site and asking advise on the bulletin board. The book is a good, interesting read though! I'm glad to hear you aren't hungry and, as doctor Atkins says, if you get hungry, eat! Good Luck!

                  Hi!!

                  Hi Bran!!!
Welcome to Atkins....it is a wonderful way of life. I am glad to see you have joined us in this journey. Your positive attitude is truly an inspriation. Stay positive and your road will be clear. I know if I can do this anyone can.....I started out at 335 and in seven weeks have lost 37 pounds. The foods aren't restrictive and you can still enjoy delicious things like pizza. And the best thing is, somehow the food gets better, because we can add things like cheese into the crust. Anywho, glad you are around!!!
