  • Ladies, has this happened to you?

If this is TMI for some, I do apologise, but this is a reliable and caring community I trust for insight!

Had a bit of cramping last night after a 4.5 mi brisk walk with hubby (on top of a 3 mi walk in the morning) –*thought nothing of it.
Woke up this morning and was spotting!

I'm 18 days into Atkins, on an extended induction after a poor showing last week. I've been on BC for 4 years and TOM isn't due for another two weeks.
I'm breathing deeply and keeping a calm head till I get to the GP this afternoon.

Reading on other LC forums showed this happens for some women who are on BC (or not) and is a result of insulin level readjustment.
But... is it really? Has this happened to anyone here?

Yep, it happens. I wouldn't spend money on a trip to the doc. You're changing your body chemistry and it's normal. It certainly explains your poor showing of weight loss last week. It's not fun. Hang in there. Totally "normal....."

Yes, this happened to me too. It was only early on and since then I seem to be on a normal schedule again.

Yes happened to me too in the beginning. As ever says we are changing our bodies when we lower our carb so the rhythm gets a bit wacky. It is fine now

Just back from the GP (sorry, EverLosing. I had to set my mind at ease) and not only do I have the all-clear, I got a Good Luck too! She confirmed that I should return to my normal schedule shortly, and to continue my cycle and BC as normal.

          WHEW!

I actually hadn't had TOM for a long time (PCOS, etc) and after being on Atkins for a month, I had TOM. Ever since, I've had it each month. I think it's hormone regulation, and wouldn't worry about it unless it doesn't normalize soon.

Re: Ladies, has this happened to you?

Ohhh yes, I know exactly what you're talking about! See, fat cells store estrogen and when you lose weight, that estrogen gets released into your blood stream, throwing off your hormones and causing spotting. Nothing to be alarmed about Everytime I have ever done Atkins, I spot about 18-20 days in, as well.

I know it stinks BUT it definitely shows that you *are* burning fat!
*Dieting makes you look good with your clothes on...exercise make you look good with them off.*
