  • Rungs??

    Hi everyone,

From reading the posts, I realize there are 9 rungs. But what are they? I think the first one is extra veggies, but what are the other 8?

    Thank you,

    Michelle
p.s. I tried looking through the posts but cannot find them

Rungs are foods groups on the Carbohydrate Ladder (Chapter 14 in DANDR 2002).
    This sticky explains them: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...te-ladder.html

Right now. Anytime. But cheese is limited to 3-4 a day.

Yep. But I would choose one without sugar alcohols. Something sweetened with Splenda for example would be okay. There are also ice creams which contain no artificial sweeteners, like for example D'Lites Ice Cream (in Florida, not sure if there is in other states) which has 2-3 net carbs per 1/2 cup.

But the best thing to do, in my opinion, is to make your own ice cream, so that you know exactly what goes into it. Here's a recipe not2late posted on the Board: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...er-recipe.html
The ingredients are "legal" for Induction, it's just that a serving has more than 2-3 tbsp of cream (3 oz are allowed as part of the "Special Category Foods", but they come with the warning that they might slow down or stall your weight loss).

Can you have ice cream - that is a good question.
It is a food I have avoided thought I technically can eat it. Too much attached to icecream for me personally. And I am pretty sure if I go there I am going to have a hard time containing my self.
Maybe one day when I feel very confident I will try it. But it is not going to be yet. I need to make sure I have my defenses ready.

i completely agree with the ice cream with you LIV... I am strong, but I dont know if THAT strong.. other than that.. I am ready to start introing more foods into my regime... as extended induction is doing well, but finally, after almost 8 weeks, getting bored with the first.
