  • I think Atkins is slower weight loss than protein shakes (for me)

I guess I expected Atkins to be as fast of weight loss as protein shakes are for me. However, I haven't lost anything since the first week. I've eaten very clean, on program, am drinking my water, etc.

With shakes I lost every day, no fail. Anyway, I'm a bit discouraged. If after the end of this week I don't show a loss I'm going back to shakes.

    Just wanted to share.

The thing with this WOE is, its for life...how are you going to maintain your losses after doing the shake diet? Do you plan on replacing meals with diet shakes forever? A big part of this plan is learning how to eat properly...

Have you posted a menu lately? I know you think you're on plan, but perhaps there is room for improvement?

I used to do shakes as well when I worked out like a demon, but ultimately it was not something I could keep up for the rest of my life, and frankly, I like the taste and satisfaction that real food gives me. I would rather eat this way and maybe a little slower weight loss that will stay off since studies have proven that fast weight loss tends to stay off longer. Yes there is a large amount in the beginning, but for the rest of the time it is slow and steady.

Hey - I just wanted to add that the first week or so you're going to lose ALOT of weight FAST because most of that is water weight.

Maybe if you would have done it the right way, you could have lost even MORE!

The shakes and bars can too much "junk" in it - once in a while its nice but like most people say here, this is a lifestyle and if you go about eatting this way you will easily fall of the wagon because you don't want to drink from a straw for the rest of your life.

Trust me when I say that the fast weight loss you had wasn't because of the shakes - I hope what I have said don't upset you and who knows I could be wrong BUT weight loss is the fastest in the beginning - don't look at this as a quick fix to weight loss - Good luck and don't lose hope, there are many successful people here and they didn't do it by just drinking shakes.

Take care and always ask for help when needed

Hang in there, it will come. Remember also that the inches will come as well. I will sometimes have a shake for breakfast but eat on plan the rest of the day and the shake is only 4carbs, I get the low carb version.

Post a menu, maybe people can help out.

*Sigh* I think I'm just the opposite. Don't suppose you'd like to buy some cheap, slightly used canisters of Muscle Milk from me so that I can get started back on this WOE??

I say give it a bit more time. Not everyone will see major losses right away. There are those who finds it picks up.

Since exercise is non-negotiable, what exactly do you do for exercise every day?

At the risk of being odd person out here, you ask lots of questions but seem very impatient. If anyone led you to believe that Atkins was a quick fix, they were mistaken. Atkins works if you work it. My concern is that people need to "know" their bodies for this to work. For example, while we don't count calories, there is a reasonable element to this plan. If you are eating 1000 calories for breakfast (reading back through your posts), maybe you need to reevaluate whether this plan is satisfying you.

Just a bit of honesty here.

I completely agree, Irish. Making losing weight and getting healthy into a ticking timebomb has always pushed me further from my goals. If you quit something that is working (just for the fact that it isn't working as fast as you want it to), you may just be looking for reasons to set yourself up for failure.

Would you mind posting a menu? Perhaps someone here will notice something that could be improved.

I agree totally with IrishIrish and with everybody else that has posted. It took you years to put it on, and it will take quite a bit of time to get it off. You must change your eating habits for the rest of your life.
