Re: Late night munchies, losing momentum, etc. HELP!
Congrats! I made these yesterday: Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes, but used colby cheese instead of cream cheese. They taste great warmed up or right out of the frig. Have you cruised Linda's lately?

Re: Late night munchies, losing momentum, etc. HELP!
You should not snack just for the fun of snacking. If you are not hungry or 6 hours have not passed since your last meal, it is better to understand why you need to snack on "something" and come up with some coping strategies.
Are you snacking because you are bored? Or because you are tired? Is it just "treating" yourself after a day of work, with little/no "you time"? If this is the case, then find something else to do instead. Read a book, listen to some music, knit... anything that can keep your mind and/or hands busy.

Re: Late night munchies, losing momentum, etc. HELP!
Barb ~ I was a Type II Diabetic until May 09' & I seem to crave sweets at night, what I have found works best is to go the other way.
I have listed for you below some of my fav's that are very low in net carbs!!!
2 Baby Kosher Dill Pickles = .42 net carbs
6 sml Stuffed Green Olives = .18 net carbs
1 Large Hard Boiled Egg = .39 net carbs
1oz Natural Cheddar Cheese = .40 net carbs
1oz Whole Milk Mozzarella Cheese = .62 net carbs
Use a sml Flat Glass Dish, 1oz Shredded Natural Cheddar Cheese on botton,1/2 to 1 tablespoon Real Bacon Bits on top & microwave for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes, let completely cool & then loosen with a fork, break or cut into smaller pieces & you have a cruncky snack=.5net carbs.
I use a Coated Paper Plate & cover the Bottom with Plain Pork Rinds, then sprinkle 2oz Shredded Natural Cheddar Cheese on top , then 1 to 2 tablespoons Real Bacon Bits on top of that, microwave 1 to 1 1/2 minutes & enjoy=1 net carb
Note : Shredded Whole Milk Mozzarella Cheese may be used in place of the Shredded Natural Cheddar Cheese in either of the 2 above recipes!!!
All 7 are very low in net carbs & at night Iam usually low or out of carbs. If I go over Its only by a tiny bit & my mouth is very happy!!! Also all 7 seem to make me crave to drink extra water so its a win~win all the way!!!

Re: Late night munchies, losing momentum, etc. HELP!
I've been noticing that when I get the munchies and feel like I'm losing momentum, it's really because I'm bored with what I've been eating. I tend to get in a rut where, for instance, I eat chicken salad every day for two weeks or my kids are home for the summer and it seems like we're always eating burgers or something. So I challenge myself to try and eat something new every day for a week. Last night I made shrimp fajitas for my family and so I ate shrimp with peppers and onions instead of burgers again or chicken salad again. It was much more satisfying!
Or, you can always find some way to distract yourself. Video games work exceptionally well for me, even though I'm a middle-aged woman.

If you are hungry, you should eat - I find that something small, like an ounce of cheese, will hold me for quite a while.Originally posted by Mbudlite89 View PostI work 3rd shift from midnight to 4 am, so i usualy dont sleep til 5-5:30 am...when i get home from work, im often hungry (work at UPS, alot of manual work, and free exercise lol) should i eat when i get home or just tough it out til the morning?
I accidentally picked the best time of year to start Atkins/stop snacking...the end of TV season. I snacked alot in front of the tube. I have also noticed that I tend to want to snack when I am reading - but am re-training myself to only eat when I am truly hungry. I do find that sipping on water all day helps beat the munchies - although it isn't quite as satifying as a bag of chips

You should eat if you are hungry. Eat a real meal - protein, fat and vegetables no junk or stuff. Drink plenty of water.Originally posted by Mbudlite89 View PostI work 3rd shift from midnight to 4 am, so i usualy dont sleep til 5-5:30 am...when i get home from work, im often hungry (work at UPS, alot of manual work, and free exercise lol) should i eat when i get home or just tough it out til the morning?

its also harder to sleep right after eating so make sure you eat asap when you get home from workOriginally posted by Mbudlite89 View PostI work 3rd shift from midnight to 4 am, so i usualy dont sleep til 5-5:30 am...when i get home from work, im often hungry (work at UPS, alot of manual work, and free exercise lol) should i eat when i get home or just tough it out til the morning?
its good to give your body about 2-3 hours since its last meal before going to sleep i think unless its something little

Re: Late night munchies, losing momentum, etc. HELP!
I work third shift also (bartender) and I have to eat something when I get off work as well...by the time I get home at 4 it's normally been at least 8-10 hours since I've eaten anything.
I'm aware that it's bad to go that long to eating especially when you're trying to diet, so I'm going to start bringing in two hardboiled eggs for a snack while I'm working....but I'm sure that I will have to continue eating something when I return home as well...
It's sort of unavoidable when you work those hours unfortunately.5'2" female

Re: Late night munchies, losing momentum, etc. HELP!
I like to keep a batch of fajita already made in my refrigerator sans tortilla. That way, I get super hungry at night I can just heat them up in the microwave for 45 seconds, and Voolaa! Here is my recipe:
