  • My 12 yr old son brought home some salmon!!!

So my hubby and son went fishing tonight for some red salmon (sockeye) and my son caught 4!!He is sooo proud of himself!! Its his first time to bring home the bacon, i mean salmon! giggle~ I put 3 in the freezer and 1 is in the fridge for tomorrow's dinner!! My husband wants them fried, which usually means dredged in flour...any ideas here? I want to fry them but not with flour and I am on extended induction. Thanks for any help.

i dont know if this might help but my wife has used crushed up pork skins after dipping the meat in egg then using the pork skins as a sort of batter its pretty good when u want something like a breading on some meats.

What if you cut the salmon into portions then fry some and leave some plain?

P.S. I'm SOOOOOO jealous you have fresh salmon in your fridge - enjoy!!!!

Try dredging ( lightly) in coconut flour- we do this for chicken and pork- it's yumm/1

coconut flour isn't allowed on extended induction. How about grilling yours then fry theirs - or the pork rind (I don't care for anything this way - but that's just me).

I would do a half/half mix of pork rinds and parmesan cheese for your crisp, personally. Let us know how it goes!

It does not need any flour - just fry in the pan with oil, butter or bacon fat. I like to make a sourcream sauce with it. When the salmon is out I add a bit of sour cream with some lemon and some salt and pepper and cook out the pan.

I love salmon - and fresh like that would be awesome.

Oooh Thanks for all of the suggestions!!! I think I will do as some of you say and cook theirs with the flour and mine I will just fry as is in bacon fat/butter with some seasoning (maybe lemon pepper and dill?) and make that awesome sounding sour cream sauce! Thanks for the ideas I am so proud of him, its nice to have fresh salmon in the house!

I always make a baking foil parcel with any fish with added butter/herbs/lemon juice etc and seal it tightly by folding the edges over and over to keep the juices in then put them in the oven. no fishy smell while cooking and a really moist succulent meal!

Yum! My neighbor was going fishing every morning and gave us maybe 8 salmon steaks recently too! (Tell your son I say congrats on his fish!) My favorite way to make either salmon or halibut is to bake it drenched in mayo, sour cream, all sorts of seasonings and then melt cheese on top. Awesome Atkins meal! Where in AK are you located?

It's funny how salmon (and other fish) have become a major part of my Atkins diet. I eat salmon at least 3 or 4 times a week.

For me the easiest and tastiest way to eat salmon is simply bake it at 350 for about 25 minutes with butter and a little dill.

It comes out juicy and flaky and succelent.

                        YUM!!

I found a yummy way to have salmon leftovers.
Flake the cooked salmon into a bowl, add some egg, diced onion and green pepper, salt and pepper and some grated parmesan. Mix well and shape into patties. Fry them in some olive oil/butter till crisp on outside and egg on inside is cooked. Yummy!
