    Hello everyone,

i have been on extended induction for 2 and half months ... just started using splenda two weeks ago to satisfy my sugar cravings because i have stated cheating ..

The problem now is that i think i am getting addicted to splenda. i mix juice of one lemon in one litter water ...keep this in my fridge.. whenever i crave for something sweet .. i take one glass of lemonade and mix 4 packets of splenda to sweeten it.( i am using the individual packets where 1 packet = 1 serving )...sometimes i drink up to two glasses of this lemonade..which means 8 packets of splenda = 8 carbs... other than this i do not eat any thing sweet..

i know splenda is allowed but my parents think i am overdoing it.. and so do i .. what should i do because less than 4 packets would not make the lemonade sweet enough to drink...

i have not lost a single pound since the past two weeks... i am wondering is it because of having too much splenda or cheating...

Any word of advice for me?

Dr. Atkins would agree with your parents. Sweeteners are limited to 3 servings per day, during all phases of Atkins. If you can't drink lemonade with less than 4 packets of Splenda, then stop drinking lemonade.

Sweeteners can also trigger a cephalic response, so you can be addicted to them. I have this problem with most sweeteners, which is why I rarely use any.

    Likely both....

It's not wise at all to "fix" sugar cravings with sweeteners. If you have sugar cravings that are not controlled by ketosis, then try taking L-glutamine. But the cravings could also be triggered by something you eat. Are you carefully checking the ingredients in everything? Are you sure you are eating nothing (absolutely nothing!) outside the acceptable foods list?

Yes stop doing that. You are on what I call a downwards slope. I have been there too. Time to turn it around and climb the other way. A bit hard at first but you can do it. Way too much sweetener and way too much at one time.
Keep going - you can do it.

I stopped using splenda 3 months ago for the same reason. I now use splendex liquid sweetener 0 carbs. I have not had any problems with it.
