  • What In The World...

    ...is going on?

I have been doing ext. induction in a very clean manner.

Today, about 20 minutes after lunch, I had severe digestive distress which left me on the toilet for longer than anyone should be (the runny kind not the stuck kind).

I ate a pork steak with a cucumber and spinach salad (consisting of a whole cucumber and 1 cup of spinach), and 16 oz. of purified water.

On top, I had Louisiana hot sauce mixed with melted butter (to replace the sugar-laden ketchup addiction I have).

Constipation on Atkins I could understand but sudden-onset diarrhea? I just don't get it.

Any guesses as to what it may be? Perhaps just a fluke?

It sometimes happen. Out of no where I may get soft stools but not really distress.
Did you wash the spinach well? All kinds of stuff can be there. Pork cooked all through. But don't worry if you feel better keep moving on. If you continue to have some distress you may want to see someone about it.

Not too sure. I'm on day 8 of Induction, and the past two days stools have been super runny. Could just be a hiccup with the cabbage I ate, or just my body getting rid of toxins. The rest of me feels fine though, so not worrying.

Does the rest of you feel good?

Yes. After I got it out, I felt okay but when it started...it came on like gangbusters! I was doing 80 on the highway to make it home and I called my husband to tell him that when I got there, he better not be in the bathroom.

When I was first on induction I had the same problem -- if I eat certain foods it can happen, so I know what foods I can't eat!!

I'm trying to figure it out because the stuff I ate today is no different that what I've been eating.

Perhaps it was the extra Echinachea pills or Omega 3&6 pills I took...forgot about those.

more likely than not it was a bug you picked up ... maybe from something you ate, maybe from something you touched, who knows? If it was a reaction to a specific food you ate, you can always test it and see if the same thing happens again.

But I don't think it would have been what you had eaten for the last meal before the distress started..probably the meal BEFORE that...it takes a little while for the food to get digested before it would cause a reaction.

              Hope it doesn't happen again!

I would blame the hot sauce! But make sure your salads and vegetables are washed thoroughly.

I have that problem a lot too, but I notice that I'll be backed up for a few days and then it's like my body says "Gotta get this outta here" and I'll have massive diarrhea for one LONG visit to the bathroom while everything cleans out and then I'm fine. Happens every few days. I'm really bad about taking my fiber supplements though so that may be part of it. I won't go for a few days and then WHOOOSH, there it goes!
